Municipality of Central Manitoulin

Municipality of Central Manitoulin The Municipality of Central Manitoulin at the heart of Manitoulin Island. The primary commercial and administrative centre of the Municipality is Mindemoya.

The Municipality of Central Manitoulin is at the heart of Manitoulin Island and offers a lifestyle and experiences you won't find in many other places these days. Authentic small town life still happens here, pristine lakes are common and proud family farms dot the countryside. We also have stunning ocean-like shorelines, first-class health care, commercial services and above all, people who care

. Golf, local live music, festivals and events attract people from across the
Island and beyond . . . Weʼre big on local food here, too, with gardens and home-grown produce plentiful in season. Clean air, great scenery and plenty of space to enjoy the outdoors, people come from far and wide to take in our quiet roads and big skies. If you have given up hope that the world still has small, beautiful, friendly places to live and vacation, then you really need to visit Central Manitoulin. Experience what it feels like when a great landscape, great communities and great people come together in an authentically rural place. Providence Bay on the Lake Huron coast is home to the 2 kilometer long Providence Bay sand beach. Sandfield is the gateway to Lake Manitou and headwaters of the Manitou River. Smaller communities include Big Lake, Britainville, Dryden's Corner, Gibraltar, Grimesthorpe, Long Bay, Monument Corner, Old Spring Bay, Perivale and Spring Bay. That's Central Manitoulin.

The Municipality of Central Manitoulin would like to advise residents of Mindemoya that the Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA) will be conducting annual spring main valve exercising and hydrant flushing starting today, June 4th, until June 6th, 2026.

During this time, residents may experience:
- Temporary low water pressure
- Cloudy or discoloured water

This is a routine and necessary process to maintain the safety and quality of our drinking water system. The water is safe for consumption, but if cloudy or discoloured water is noticed, residents are asked to run their taps for a few minutes until the water clears.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as this important maintenance is completed.
