📢 Request for Proposals – Licensed Bar Services

The City of Miramichi is inviting qualified proponents to submit proposals for the operation of licensed bar services at two separate City facilities:

Miramichi Civic Centre
Arbec Wellness Centre

Please note that these are two separate Request for Proposals, and each facility will be awarded independently. Proponents may submit a proposal for one location or for both.

Each contract is for a term of up to five (5) years, in accordance with the City's requirements and guidelines outlined in the respective RFP documents.

Interested proponents are encouraged to review the RFP package(s) and submit their proposals by the specified deadline.

Veuillez noter qu'il s'agit de deux demandes de propositions distinctes, et que chaque contrat sera attribué séparément. Les soumissionnaires peuvent présenter une proposition pour un seul emplacement ou pour les deux.

Temporary Emergency Shelter Closing August 7

The City of Miramichi advises that the temporary emergency shelter established in response to the evacuation of 15 Cole Crescent will officially close on Friday, August 7 at 4pm.

Over the past three weeks, an incredible community effort has helped many displaced residents transition into more stable housing. We extend our sincere thanks to the organizations, agencies, City staff, volunteers, and community partners who came together to support those affected.

CAO Greg Sargent reflected on the community response:

"This response demonstrated what our community is capable of when organizations work together with a shared purpose. While we celebrate the many residents who have successfully transitioned into housing, we also recognize that affordable housing remains a significant challenge in Miramichi. This experience reinforces the need for continued collaboration and long-term solutions."

Fermeture du refuge d'urgence temporaire le 7 août

La Ville de Miramichi informe la population que le refuge d'urgence temporaire mis en place à la suite de l'évacuation du 15, Cres. Cole fermera officiellement ses portes le vendredi 7 août.
Au cours des trois dernières semaines, un effort collectif remarquable a permis à de nombreuses personnes déplacées d'accéder à un logement plus stable. Nous remercions sincèrement les organismes, les partenaires communautaires, le personnel de la Ville, les bénévoles et toutes les personnes qui se sont mobilisés pour soutenir les résidents touchés.

Le directeur général, Greg Sargent, a souligné l'importance de cette collaboration :

"Cette intervention a démontré tout ce que notre communauté est capable d'accomplir lorsque les organisations travaillent ensemble vers un objectif commun. Bien que nous nous réjouissions de voir de nombreux résidents avoir trouvé un nouveau logement, nous reconnaissons également que le logement abordable demeure un défi important à Miramichi. Cette expérience renforce la nécessité de poursuivre notre collaboration et de mettre en place des solutions durables à long terme."

Hydrant flushing for 2026 has now been completed! ✅

Crews will continue working through the rest of the week to finish the remaining hydrant inspections. They will also be conducting leak detection across all three water systems.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as this important maintenance is completed.

🚧Weekly construction update for the week of Aug 4th, 2026🚧

Habitat for Humanity Subdivision – Asphalt paving and landscaping will continue off Railway Avenue, between Lawlor Lane and Doyle Street.

Eco Centre Roof Repairs – Work will continue at the facility at 21 Cove Road.

Ironmen Field Lighting Upgrades – Work has resumed at Ironmen Field. To facilitate, periodic lane closures will be required on John Street.

Duke Street Reconstruction – Work to upgrade underground infrastructure continues on Duke Street, between Queen Street and Warren Avenue.

Williston Drive Watermain Upgrades – Construction of a new water transmission line continues on Williston Drive.

Ritchie Wharf – Exploratory excavation work will take place at Ritchie Wharf this week, starting Tuesday. Visitors should be aware that a limited closure of a section of the parking lot will be required. Access to the boardwalk, splashpad and the boat ramp will not be affected.
