Emergency Shelter | May 2026 Impact Report

In May, our staff supported and guided 35 individuals experiencing homelessness, helping them navigate challenges and work toward greater stability. Together, we served 1,350 meals, distributed 113 clothing items, provided crisis intervention and mental health support, assisted with medical appointments, and helped individuals take meaningful steps toward housing and independence.

There’s a lot of stigma surrounding homelessness, but moments like this remind us that the negative stereotypes people often hear simply are not true.

Today, one of our residents at the Transition House spent the day mowing the lawn and helping bring the property back to life. Not because they had to, but because they wanted to. Because when people feel a sense of belonging, pride in where they live naturally follows.

We are proud of the individuals who walk through our doors every day. People experiencing homelessness are people first. Resilient, caring, determined, and capable of so much more than the labels society places on them. 💛

He arrived with everything he had left, a U Haul and his 15 year old dog.

After being scammed out of his rent and deposit, the home he thought he had secured did not exist.

This is happening more than people realize. Rental scams are leaving individuals, including seniors, with nothing overnight. One moment you think you are moving into a home, the next you are standing outside with nowhere to go.

The reality is, more people are closer to homelessness than we think. It does not take much. One scam, one unexpected loss, one wrong turn in an already tight housing market.

And when you have a pet, especially a senior companion, the barriers grow even higher.

But this is also what community based, housing focused support can do. Within days, we were able to help this gentleman and his dog find a safe place to land, together.

This work matters because the need is real, and it is growing.
