WILDFIRE PUBLIC NOTICE

Prince Edward Island has experienced 3 wildfires over the past 7 days. All have since been confirmed extinguished.

May 18th Piusville, 0.4 hectares (1.0 acres)
May 21st Portage, 0.1 hectares (0.25 acres)
May 23rd Donagh, 1.2 hectares (2.96 acres)

Provincial staff worked with the following volunteer fire departments:

Alberton FD, O’Leary, West Point FD, Wellington FD, Vernon River FD, East River FD, Cross roads FD, Charlottetown FD.

Wildfire suppression efforts were also supported by Island EMS and the Department of Transportation.

Planning some spring clean up? While burning brush is legal.... burning garbage or household waste is not. Open burning must always follow provincial rules.

Burning waste releases harmful pollutants and increases wildfire risk.

âś…Check daily burn restrictions.
âś…Burn only approved materials.
❌Never burn household waste.
âś…Fires must be attended at all times.
