Mission Public Schools Mission Public Schools serves approx. 7000 students and has over 1000 employees. The place from where Halq'eméylem (Upriver dialect) originates is Leq'á:mel.

We are honoured to work and learn within the Traditional, Ancestral, Unsurrendered, and Shared territories of Stó:lō people, of Leq'á:mel, Semá:th, Máthxwi, Sq'éwlets, and Qwó:ltl'el First Nations, stewards of this land since time immemorial. ​

Halq'eméylem is the language of this land and of Stó:lō ancestors. The language comes from the land, and it has been this way since time immemorial.

Community members are encouraged to attend our public Committee of the Whole meetings, a welcoming space to learn, share perspectives, and stay informed. These meetings provide opportunity to: seek clarification on key topics, hear presentation and updates, provide input as a community member or partner organization, and support informed decision making.

Recent highlight: Lunchtime Punjabi Clubs are run by dedicated volunteer staff at several schools, with minimal budget, but have created meaningful opportunities for students to connect, learn, and celebrate culture. We heard from students, parents and staff, how impactful this initiative has been in our schools.
