Mission Public Schools

Mission Public Schools Mission Public Schools serves approx. 7000 students and has over 1000 employees. The place from where Halq'eméylem (Upriver dialect) originates is Leq'á:mel.

We are honoured to work and learn within the Traditional, Ancestral, Unsurrendered, and Shared territories of Stó:lō people, of Leq'á:mel, Semá:th, Máthxwi, Sq'éwlets, and Qwó:ltl'el First Nations, stewards of this land since time immemorial.

Halq'eméylem is the language of this land and of Stó:lō ancestors. The language comes from the land, and it has been this way since time immemorial.

May is Asian Heritage Month - a time to celebrate, learn and reflect.

Across BC, Asian cultures, histories, and contributions are woven into the fabric of our communities and our province.

Let’s continue learning from one another and building on the respect, understanding, and inclusion that make BC thrive.

This week our teachers participating in inquiry came together for a celebration of learning. It was amazing to see the questions posed and ideas tried to see the findings on how certain ideas impact student learning.  Ideas ranged from accessible seating, impacts of flameless cooking on students, making learning intentions meaningful to students, Flex Time within a class or school, and multiple literacy initiatives to just name a couple of ideas.

Youth engagement event: The Forge Project is kicking off on Thursday.

What is The Forge Project? Think Foundry but uniquely made-in-Mission. What we're doing is working to adapt the Mission Youth Centre into a dynamic Youth Hub of Services — a welcoming place where youth can connect with support, programs, and people who care.

This project will be shaped by the youth it will serve.

This first engagement event takes place on May 21st from 4pm-7pm, engaging youth aged 12-18 years old to seek their ideas, thoughts and feedback on the renovation and upgrades of the Youth Centre space into a hub of services for youth.

Food and refreshments are available during the event, and staff are around to answer questions.

Thank you to all who attended the public Open House at HPMS (May 13, 2026) and to students and staff who attended the Open House at HMS (May 14, 2026) to learn more about what Mission Public Schools heard through the recent Middle School Survey.

These sessions shared key feedback and provided an opportunity to offer additional input and perspectives as the District considers a transition from the current Middle School Model (K–6, 7–9, 10–12) to a Secondary School Model (K–7, 8–12).

All the presentation boards from the Open Houses have been uploaded into the Middle School Survey project on engage.mpsd (Have Your Say) portal for you to view at your convenience.

A virtual comment card for additional feedback has been added to the project. As the school district explores options, please tell us:

Is critical information missing?
Is there anything else that should be considered?

Friday Feels 🌿

Sometimes we move through the week so focused on getting everything done that we forget to check in with ourselves.

As we head into the long weekend, this is your reminder to make space for the things that help you feel grounded — fresh air, movement, laughter, music, rest, connection, or even a quiet moment alone.

Small moments of care still count.

Wishing our community a safe and restful long weekend from all of us at Fraser House Society 💚
