Such a great chat with Childcare Conversations

You can’t have a yes without a why.
If your classroom feels chaotic, don’t rush to blame the kids.

Start by asking: what is this behavior trying to tell me?
Carla said it best - the biggest shift happens when we stop trying to control children and start changing the environment.

If we want confident, capable kids, we have to design spaces that say yes first.

“Is getting your bachelor’s an option to become a teacher? Much more respect that way.”

I saw this comment in an ECE Facebook group, and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it.

Not because becoming a teacher isn’t a wonderful career path.

But because of the assumption sitting underneath the suggestion:

If you want to be respected, leave Early Childhood Education.

And THAT is a problem.

Why is the solution for an Early Childhood Educator who wants professional respect to become something else?

Why aren’t we asking why someone with education, expertise, professional standards and responsibility for some of the most important years of a child’s development isn’t already afforded that respect?

ECE should not be the profession you have to leave in order to be valued.

We need to stop telling Early Childhood Educators to find a more respected profession and start asking why we still haven’t given this one the respect it deserves.

What a beautiful day spent in Niagara with Jamie Wagler | ECE Consultant & School-Age Specialist and Wellness Retreat with Maggie (Yogatime with Maggie).

At one point I was lying on my back, opened my eyes and just… wow. The tree! 🌳

After yoga, we went for a walk and met a turkey! I am not a fan of turkeys, and I feel like this turkey knew it. 😂 But you can’t ignore how magnificent it was.

Such a beautiful way to spend a Sunday. ❤️
