Zak’s Memorial Basketball Tournament – 2025

A young, bright, and kind soul was taken far too soon. Zak, the beloved son of a dedicated Toronto Police Officer, touched the lives of everyone around him with his warmth, character, and love for community.

Basketball was more than just a game to Zak—it was a way to bring people together. This annual tournament continues that spirit, uniting friends, family, and the community in his memory.

We were honoured to be part of this meaningful event, which not only celebrates Zak’s life but also raises funds for important charitable causes.

Rest in peace, Zak. Your memories will live forever!

Thank you for the wonderful video.

ProAction Cops & Kids Gala – 35 Years of Excellence and Community Impact!

A wonderful evening celebrating the success of this incredible program over the years. Tens of thousands of dollars were raised, all going right back into community youth initiatives.

We are proud supporters and ambassadors of the program, having witnessed first hand the extremely positive impact these youth programs create.

I have had the privilege of leading six different ProAction youth programs across the city so far, and I’m excited to be involved in many more in the future.

Thank you to all the donors, supporters, staff, and our amazing police officers who dedicate their personal time to investing in our youth!

The journey hasn’t been easy or straightforward, to say the least. However, I feel blessed to now be in a place where I can give back and serve to the best of my abilities.

This story may resonate with many newcomers and refugees in Canada who have left war and instability behind, hoping for a brighter future in their new homeland.

Policing is more than enforcement; it’s about connection and building positive relationships, it’s about listening, understanding, and working together with our communities. When trust grows, communities grow stronger!

Each of us has the ability to make a positive difference in someone’s life, no matter how small.

A conversation, a helping hand, or simply showing compassion can change someone’s outlook and strengthen the bond between police and the communities we proudly serve.

We need more love over hate, trust over fear, kindness over division, peace over war! 🙏

Thank you to my colleague and brother who has always stood by my side and supported me.

Thank you and the amazing team at for all your efforts!

Since 2021, we have delivered close to 100 information sessions for newcomers to Canada 🇨🇦 from every corner of the world, serving thousands of individuals and families along the way. We have also partnered with a wide range of diverse community organizations to better support our newcomer population.

Our work is centered on education, mentorship, and guidance — providing newcomers with the tools they need to understand their rights, build confidence, and feel empowered as they start their new lives here in Canada.

Most importantly, we aim to foster trust, so newcomers feel comfortable reaching out to police for help when they need it!

2022: In the early days of Project HOPE, we visited a local Canadian Tire to pick up toys and essential items for newcomers arriving in Canada. That’s where I met this fine officer, who was working at the store at the time.

When he found out the reason behind our shopping spree, he went above and beyond—helping us purchase a large number of baby strollers for newcomer children. His kindness and willingness to help left a lasting impression.

We stayed in touch over the years as he passionately worked toward his goal of becoming a Police Constable.

2026: Four years later, it was an absolute pleasure and honour to watch him receive his badge and graduate as a brand-new Constable.

A full-circle moment and a reminder that those who serve the community often start by simply stepping up to help others.

Congratulations and welcome to the Toronto Police Service!

It was an honour to attend the graduation of 90 new Toronto Police Constables in my role as the President of the Toronto Police Amateur Athletic Association (TPAAA). On behalf of the TPAAA, we proudly recognized two graduates with the “Most Improved” and “Outstanding Athlete” awards for their exceptional effort and contributions throughout their training.

I was also wearing a second hat that day, cheering on several graduates whom I have known for years and had the privilege of supporting and mentoring throughout their journeys to becoming police officers. One particular story from this class truly stands out, and I will share it at another time.

The Toronto Police Service, and the great city of Toronto, need dedicated candidates who have what it takes and who are willing and eager to serve and protect with honesty, integrity, and compassion. If you believe you have what it takes, there has never been a better time to apply!

90 seats × 4 classes a year = 360 opportunities.

Project HOPE proudly hosted the second of five Children’s Events at Canadian Ukrainian Immigrant Aid Services in Toronto!

Ukrainian newcomer children and families fleeing war and destruction were warmly welcomed by officers and volunteers. Toys and gifts were also delivered to help bring comfort and a sense of hope during a difficult transition.

Project HOPE envisions a welcoming and inclusive community where newcomers feel informed, supported, and confident in their interactions with law enforcement and Canadian society.

The event was successfully collaborated with our community partner yet another powerful example of what Police and Community collaborations and partnerships can achieve! ✊
