A Fresh Start!!

We are excited to share that 4 of our shelter guests have recently moved into safe and stable housing.

Tim and Bev arrived at our shelter in March. With the support of our frontline team and caseworkers, combined with a clear commitment of their own, they have now moved into their own New Brunswick Housing unit.

Nicole moved into her own place this week after experiencing homelessness since 2019. During her time at Harvest House over the past few months, she worked closely with staff and took important steps toward stability and today she is now housed.

Danny came to Harvest House in 2021 with his brother Sidney and his mother Connie. Since then, each of them has moved into more stable housing situations.
Sidney secured housing at Rising Tide with support from our caseworkers.
Connie moved into long-term care last year, and Danny moved into housing this week.

From May 1st to June 2nd, 13 individuals transitioned from our shelter into alternative housing, while one individual entered our Addiction Recovery Program.

All of this is made possible through the dedication of our dedicated frontline staff and caseworkers. Thank you for the incredible work you do every day!!

And to our Harvest House community, your support makes these new beginnings possible!

This past weekend, the men in our Recovery Program attended the Band of Brothers Boot Camp on Caton's Island.

Through worship, biblical teaching, and connection, our men were challenged to confront their past, deepen their faith, and continue moving forward on their recovery journey.

Recovery is never linear. It comes with challenges, setbacks, and breakthroughs. But each step forward is a step toward healing, and ultimately, freedom.

We're proud of these men for their courage, commitment, and willingness to keep pursuing growth and transformation.

We had a wonderful evening last night!

A big thank you to Crandall University for joining us and hosting a fun game of bingo. it was a great time for everyone involved.

We were also grateful to resume our chapel service after a three-week pause due to renovations. Our Frontline Manager, Mark Gennis, shared a powerful message on how “Tolerance Will Keep You Bound,” encouraging reflection and growth.

The evening was meaningful and truly reflected the support within our community.

While we were temporarily closed for plumbing work, our staff took the opportunity to refresh and repaint the entire Community Center and Men’s Shelter.

Everything now looks bright, clean, and brand new with fresh paint throughout! We are grateful to our hardworking Frontline Team for making the most of this time and helping improve the space for everyone we serve.

We are also happy to share that all services have now fully resumed at both the shelter and the community center.

Chapel services have also resumed and will continue on Wednesday evenings at 6:00 PM, following a three-week pause due to renovation work.

We welcome everyone back into a refreshed and renewed environment!

After 6 months of waiting, Rita one of our Housing residents finally received her new smile!

For many of the women we serve, dentures are more than dental care. They restore confidence, and a sense of identity. After years of hardship, this moment represents progress and hope.

When her dentures were placed, Rita couldn’t stop smiling and thanking our Housing Team.

Keep smiling, Rita! it looks good on you

Last Thursday, our Housing Team and residents had an amazing time at Moncton Paintball!

They spent the day together enjoying friendly competition and lots of laughter. We are incredibly grateful to Moncton Paintball for their warm welcome, generosity, and for making this fun and memorable experience possible for everyone who attended.

Today, we join our community in mourning the loss of Robert K. Irving.

Mr. Irving was far more than a business leader. He was a passionate supporter of people, community, and countless organizations throughout New Brunswick, across Canada, and around the world.

At Harvest House Atlantic, we are deeply grateful for the support that Robert and the Irving family have shown to our mission over the years.

Today, we honour not only Mr. Irving’s remarkable legacy, but also the Irving family during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they grieve the loss of a husband, father, grandfather, friend, and community builder whose influence will be felt for generations to come.

We are proud to share that two of our guests have transitioned from shelter into an alternative residential facility.

Lisa has been in and out of shelters since 2022, and Josh has been in shelter since 2021, both continuing their journey toward stability.

Yesterday, our Men's and Women's Recovery Teams participated in a training session focused on addiction, staff wellness, and infection control.

We were grateful to have Dr. Linda Hudson facilitate an “Addiction 101” session, offering valuable insight into addiction, different substances, and their effects.

Dr. Carl Hudson also provided important training on infection prevention and control practices.

In addition, Sarah Fletcher from Made to Thrive Counselling led a session on resilience and self-care, supporting staff wellbeing and sustainability in our work.

We are so thankful for the knowledge shared and the ongoing commitment to strengthening our team in order to better serve our community.
