A Community Coming Together to Make a Difference!

Today, October 10th, marks both World Homeless Day and World Mental Health Day, two important reminders of the challenges many individuals in our community face every day.

And what better time to recognize an incredible act of generosity right here in Greater Moncton.

Yesterday, the Table4 Foods truck pulled up outside our shelter and served over 300 plates of delicious Brazilian food to members of our community.

But here's what made it even more special.

Copper Fox Home Services stepped up and covered the cost, making sure every single meal was provided free of charge.,

A huge thank you to Stephen, Will, and everyone at Copper Fox Home Services for making this possible, and to Julio and his team at Table4 Foods for preparing and serving such wonderful food.

On a day when we recognize the importance of addressing homelessness and mental health, we're reminded just how much of a difference kindness and generosity can make.

A special thank you to Mark, our Manager of Social Enterprise & Food Security, and his team for coordinating this initiative and bringing everything together.

To everyone who had a part yesterday, thank you for standing alongside Harvest House Atlantic and the people we serve.

Give the Gift of a Meal This Holiday Season!

This Thanksgiving, a meal can mean so much more than food on a plate.
Our Harvest Meal Campaign is now underway, and you may see it arriving in your mailbox this week.

As families across our community prepare to gather around their tables for Thanksgiving, hundreds of people continue to turn to Harvest House each day for a warm meal, a safe place, and a sense of hope.

The need for meals remains significant, and it doesn’t end after Thanksgiving. In the coming weeks, your support will help us continue putting nutritious meals on the table for those who need them most.

CELEBRATING COMMUNITY AND GENEROSITY

This past Sunday, we had the privilege of joining the Greater Moncton Naija at Victoria Park as they celebrated Nigerian Independence Day.

As part of the celebration, the Nigerian community chose to give back to organizations serving Greater Moncton, and we were incredibly grateful to have Harvest House Atlantic among those they supported.

Their generosity included a wonderful collection of food and essential items, including much-needed support for our upcoming Thanksgiving dinner.

Our Executive Director, Leon Baker, along with members of our Development Team, Corey Pinsent and Julie McGuire were honoured to be there to celebrate, connect and receive these generous donations on behalf of Harvest House.

To the Nigerian Community of Greater Moncton, thank you for welcoming us and for choosing to give back to our community. We are grateful for your generosity and partnership!

Building Community, Supporting Recovery

Recovery is about more than overcoming addiction. It’s about rebuilding lives, developing healthy relationships, and finding joy in things again.

Recently, the men in our Recovery Program enjoyed a bowling outing. It may not seem like much, but outings like this provide an opportunity to step away from the routine, simply enjoy some time together.

We’re also grateful to Sole Mate's Orthopedic Services, who recently hosted a BBQ fundraiser as part of their Wellness With Purpose community event, raising $500 in support of our Men’s Recovery Program.

A sincere thank you to the team at Sole Mate’s and everyone who supported the fundraiser. Community partnerships like these help us continue walking alongside men as they build healthier, more hopeful futures.

$25,000 Invested in Hope.

We are incredibly grateful to Banque Nationale for a very generous donation of $25,000 to Harvest House Atlantic and for joining us as one of our newest community partners.

David Michaud, Branch Manager of National Bank’s Main Street Moncton branch, recently joined us at Harvest House to present the generous gift.

On hand to receive the donation were Executive Director Leon Baker, along with members of our leadership team, Shakera Mitchell, Pauline Frigault and Corey Pinsent.

This significant investment will directly support the work happening every day at Harvest House Atlantic as we provide hope, support and opportunities for change to people across our community.

PARTNERSHIP HIGHLIGHT

Addiction recovery isn’t only about what needs to change. It’s also about what needs to heal.

That’s why Harvest House Atlantic is grateful for our partnership with Just Us Counselling, a New Brunswick nonprofit providing accessible, free and low-cost counselling.

Through this partnership, approximately 20 residents in our nine-month recovery program accessed subsidized virtual counselling. This support gave them space to address trauma, understand the roots of their addiction and develop healthier ways to cope.

Recovery Caseworker and program graduate Wade Flynn understands the importance of that support firsthand:

“Most addictions, not all, start with underlying issues such as trauma. If they come in here, have a roof over their head and leave without any counselling, they will go out with all the same problems.”

While residents can speak openly with staff and peers, an independent counsellor offers something different. “It’s not the same as having an outside ear to talk to,” Wade says.

We’re grateful to Just Us Counselling for helping make professional mental health support more accessible to the people we serve.
