Everyone has places that feel like home.

For Craig, The Comic Hunter (Moncton) is one of those places.

Visiting isn't only about comics and collectibles. It's about being welcomed, sharing conversations with people who know him, and enjoying a hobby that brings him happiness. Inclusive communities are built through everyday interactions. When local businesses create welcoming environments where everyone feels respected and valued, they help strengthen the community for all of us.

Thank you to The Comic Hunter (Moncton) for being part of Craig's story.

Some of the best moments happen outside of our everyday routines.

On July 23, members from MCRI enjoyed a summer outing to Magic Mountain, where they spent the day exploring attractions, building friendships, and creating lasting memories together.

Community outings like these are about more than recreation. They provide opportunities to strengthen confidence, develop independence, build meaningful relationships, and experience the sense of belonging that comes from participating in the community alongside others.

At MCRI, we believe everyone deserves opportunities to experience their community, pursue their interests, and create memories that enrich everyday life. Thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a memorable experience.

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT✨

Meet Ravneet Kaur!

Ravneet is a Youth Care Worker in one of our community based care homes, and although she has only been with MCRI for about seven months, it feels as though she has been part of the team much longer. The knowledge, compassion, and experience she brings have made her a valued member of the MCRI family.

Originally from Punjab, India, Ravneet came to Canada in 2023. Since joining our team, she has proven to be a tremendous asset. Ravneet has a huge heart and is deeply committed to building healthy, meaningful relationships with everyone she meets—especially the youth she supports. She is always willing to lend a helping hand and she goes out of her way to ensure those around her feel supported and valued.

When asked to describe herself in three words, Ravneet chose loyal, hardworking, and quiet—a description that truly reflects who she is.
Ravneet shared that the place she would most love to visit is back home in India, and she said she couldn’t live without her mother. In her free time, she enjoys drawing, listening to music, and travelling.

Her favorite part of the job is meeting new youth and being able to support them in their journeys. Ravneet’s favorite color is maroon, her favorite food is momos (popular Tibetan and Nepali dumplings filled with meat, vegetables, or cheese), and her favorite holiday is Boxing Day. Her happy place is simply being at home with her family.

One of Ravneet’s proudest moments was earning her driver’s license, and a life-changing experience for her was moving to Canada and learning to live independently.
A fun fact about Ravneet is that although she may seem quiet at first, once she feels comfortable, she can talk a lot! Her favorite quote is: “Fight for your fairytale.”

Thank you, Ravneet! MCRI is grateful for all you do for the youth you support✨

How does a week begin in SILP?
For many of us, Monday starts with a cup of coffee and a to do list.

For our SILP and members, the week often begins with a conversation.

What groceries are needed this week? Is there enough room in the budget? Are there any appointments coming up? Does anyone need to visit the bank or pick up a prescription?
These routines might seem ordinary, but they are the building blocks of independence.

At Moncton Community Residences Inc, Human Service Counsellors work alongside members, providing individualized support based on each person's goals, strengths, and aspirations. Rather than doing tasks for someone, our counsellors work with members, encouraging choice, building confidence, and developing practical life skills through everyday experiences.

Every grocery trip becomes an opportunity to practice budgeting. Every appointment helps build confidence in managing personal responsibilities. Every small step contributes to greater independence, stability, and inclusion. Because independence is not built in a day. It is built through everyday moments, one step at a time.
