(EL) ΜΙΑ ΒΟΛΤΑ ΣΤΗΝ «ΕΛΛΑΔΑ ΤΩΝ ΗΡΩΩΝ» — Για τις ήσυχες μέρες του καλοκαιριού (και όχι μόνο), προτείνουμε μια βόλτα στην έκθεση «Η Ελλάδα των Ηρώων. Στην εποχή της Τροίας», στο Μουσείο Pointe-à-Callière. Στην έκθεση παρουσιάζονται 400 αντικείμενα της ελληνικής αρχαιότητας από μουσεία και αρχαιολογικές ανασκαφές στην Ελλάδα. (EL) 20 ΙΟΥΛΙΟΥ 1974: ΜΑΥΡΗ ΕΠΕΤΕΙΟΣ ΓΙΑ ΤΗΝ ΚΥΠΡΟ – Η ελληνική παροικία του Μοντρεάλ στάθηκε πολύ δυνατά στο πλευρό των δοκιμαζόμενων Κυπρίων αδελφών. Οι αχρονολόγητες φωτογραφίες και το απόκομμα της εφημερίδας προέρχονται από το αρχείο του άλλοτε επιτίμου προξένου της Κύπρου στο Μιχάλη Παϊδούσση και της κας. Βρισηίδας Μαύρου-Παϊδούσση. Το αρχείο αυτό πρόσφατα παραχωρήθηκε στην Βιβλιοθήκη μας.

(FR) 20 JUILLET 1974: ANNIVERSAIRE SOMBRE POUR LA CHYPRE -- La communauté grecque de Montréal s’est tenue très fermement aux côtés de ses frères chypriotes éprouvés. Les photos sans date et la coupure de journal proviennent des archives de feu l’ancien consul honoraire de Chypre à Montréal, Michael Païdoussis, et de son épouse Mme Vrissiis Mavrou-Païdoussis. Ce fonds d’archives a été récemment confié à notre Bibliothèque.

(EN) 20 JULY 1974: A SOMBER ANNIVERSARY FOR CYPRUS -- The Greek community in Montreal stood very strongly beside its suffering Cypriot brothers. The undated photos and the newspaper clipping come from the archives of the late former honorary consul of Cyprus in Montreal, Michael Païdoussis, and his wife Mrs. Vrissiis Mavrou-Païdoussis. This archive was recently donated to our Library.

(EL) ΣΥΓΧΑΡΗΤΗΡΙΑ ΣΤΟΝ ΓΡΑΜΜΑΤΕΑ ΜΑΣ! -- Την Παρασκευή 17 Ιουλίου 2026, ο Δημήτρης Μαχλούτα, γραμματέας του ΔΣ της Βιβλιοθήκης μας, υπερασπίσθηκε με επιτυχία την διδακτορική του διατριβή στο Πανεπιστήμιο McGill. Θέμα της διατριβής του ήταν η αυτοεξορία στο Παρίσι και στο Μοντρεάλ ορισμένων γαλλόφωνων Ελλήνων αντιστασιακών και διανοουμένων κατά τα χρόνια της Δικτατορίας των Συνταγματαρχών στην Ελλάδα (1967-1974). Ο Δημήτρης θα συνεχίσει ως μεταδιδακτορικός ερευνητής στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Κεμπέκ στο Μοντρεάλ (UQAM). Στις φωτογραφίες, ο Δημήτρης και οι εξεταστές του. -- Μπράβο, Δημήτρη! Και σ’ ανώτερα!

(FR) FÉLICITATIONS À NOTRE SECRÉTAIRE! -- Le vendredi 17 juillet 2026, Dimitris Machlouta, secrétaire du Conseil d’administration de notre Bibliothèque, a défendu avec succès sa thèse de doctorat à l’Université McGill. Le sujet de sa thèse était l’exile à Paris et à Montréal de certains intellectuels grecs francophones opposés à la junte pendant les années de la dictature des Colonels en Grèce (1967-1974). Dimitris continuera comme chercheur postdoctoral à l’Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). Sur les photo, Dimitris et ses examinateurs.-- Bravo, Dimitris! Et que cela continue!

(EN) CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR SECRETARY! -- On Friday July 17, 2026, Dimitris Machlouta, Secretary of the Board of our Library, successfully defended his doctoral thesis at McGill University. The subject of his dissertation was the self-exile in Paris and in Montreal of certain Greek francophone anti-junta intellectuals during the years of the Colonels’ dictatorship in Greece (1967-1974). (EL) ΕΝΑ ΠΟΛΥ ΕΝΔΙΑΦΕΡΟΝ ΑΛΛΑ ΠΑΡΑΞΕΝΟ ΑΠΟΚΤΗΜΑ -- Η Βιβλιοθήκη μας απέκτησε ένα πολύ ενδιαφέρον αλλά και παράξενο αντικείμενο: μια σημαία της «Ομοσπονδίας Ηνωμένων Ελληνικών Σωματείων Μοντρεάλης». Η σημαία έχει διαστάσεις 127 cm x 203 cm (50 in x 80 in) και είναι σε εξαιρετική κατάσταση. Το άτομο που μας την παραχώρησε δεν γνώριζε την προέλευσή της. Αν γνωρίζετε κάτι για την συγκεκριμένη Ομοσπονδία, σας παρακαλούμε να γράψετε κάποιο σχόλιο ή να επικοινωνήσετε μαζί μας στην ηλεκτρονική διεύθυνση: [email protected]. (FR) UNE ACQUISITION TRÈS INTÉRESSANTE, MAIS ÉTRANGE -- Notre Bibliothèque a fait l’acquisition d'un objet très intéressant mais aussi étrange: un drapeau de la «Fédération des Sociétés helléniques unies de Montréal». Le drapeau mesure 127 cm x 203 cm (50 po x 80 po) et se trouve dans un état exceptionnel. La personne qui nous l’a cédé ne connaissait pas son origine. Si vous savez quelque chose au sujet de cette Fédération, nous vous prions de bien vouloir laisser un commentaire ou de nous contacter à l'adresse courriel: [email protected]. The flag measures 127 cm x 203 cm (50 in x 80 in) and is in excellent condition. The person who handed it to us did not know its origin. (EL) – ΔΩΡΕΑ ΣΤΗΝ ΜΝΗΜΗ ΤΟΥ ΜΙΧΑΛΗ ΠΑΪΔΟΥΣΣΗ (1935-2026) – Η κα. Βρισηίς Μαύρου-Παϊδούσση δώρισε στην Βιβλιοθήκη μας είκοσι κουτιά με βιβλία και αρχειακό υλικό από την συλλογή του συζύγου της Μιχάλη Παϊδούσση, που έφυγε πρόσφατα από την ζωή. Επίσης η κα. Μαύρου-Παϊδούσση έκανε και σημαντική χρηματική δωρεά προς την Βιβλιοθήκη στην μνήμη του συζύγου της. Ο Μιχάλης Παϊδούσσης διετέλεσε καθηγητής του Πανεπιστημίου McGill και για πολλά χρόνια πρόεδρος της Ελληνοκαναδικής Επιτροπής Αλληλεγγύης για την Κύπρο και Επίτιμος Πρόξενος της Κύπρου στο Μοντρεάλ. Εκφράζουμε τα ειλικρινή μας συλλυπητήρια στην κα. Μαύρου-Παϊδούσση και σε όλους τους συγγενείς και φίλους του εκλιπόντος. (FR) DONS À LA MÉMOIRE DE MICHAEL PAÏDOUSSIS (1935-2026) – Mme Vrissiis Mavrou-Païdoussis a fait don à notre Bibliothèque de vingt boîtes de livres et de documents d’archives provenant de la collection de son époux, Michael Païdoussis, décédé récemment. De plus, Mme Mavrou-Païdoussis a également effectué un don financier important à la Bibliothèque en mémoire de son mari. Michael Païdoussis a été professeur à l’Université McGill et, pendant de nombreuses années, président du Comité canado-hellénique de solidarité pour la Chypre, ainsi que consul honoraire de Chypre à Montréal. Nous adressons nos plus sincères condoléances à Mme Mavrou-Païdoussis et à tous les membres de sa famille ainsi qu’à ses proches et amis. (EN) DONATION IN MEMORY OF MICHAEL PAÏDOUSSIS (1935–2026) – Mrs. Vrissiis Mavrou-Païdoussis donated to our Library twenty boxes of books and archival material from her husband Michael Païdoussis’s collection, who has recently passed away. In addition, Mrs. Mavrou-Païdoussis also made a significant financial donation to the Library in memory of her husband. Michael Païdoussis served as a professor at McGill University and for many years was Chair of the Canada-Hellenic Solidarity Committee for Cyprus, as well as Honorary Consul of Cyprus in Montreal. We extend our sincere condolences to Mrs. Mavrou-Païdoussis and to all relatives and friends of the deceased.
