Meet Shannon, VP of our Board of Directors since 2022!
“The YD will always hold a special place in my heart because it gave me my first job after I'd moved to Quebec. Serving on the board years later has felt like a true full-circle moment - a chance to give back to the organization and community that helped shape both my career and my sense of belonging.”
“I would tell others that volunteering, in general, is genuinely fulfilling when you connect with the mission and values of an organization, like I do with the YD. It’s also a reminder of how much community and public organizations rely on volunteers not only to thrive, but to exist. These organizations are often the quiet pillars of our communities, and it’s easy to take their impact for granted - volunteering is a way to both recognize and strengthen that foundation.”
Memorable Moment: “Attending a community event in Sherbrooke where the YD was nominated for an award from Intergénérations Québec. Being based locally, I was able to represent the organization in person, meet other community groups, and connect the YD more directly to the local ecosystem. It was a rare moment where my being based outside Montreal genuinely added value to the organization!”
