And somehow, we’re at the end! ☀️⛱️

Celebrations happened across the school in June. Whether it’s commemorating the end of the K4 or K5 program, wrapping up a great year with daily in-class surprises, or enjoying a beautiful barbecue, Terry Fox staff, students, and families took part in appreciating how far we’ve all come. Two full classes of Grade 6 students crossed the stage to receive their certificates on June 18, after persevering through high heat to complete their Ministry exams. This community is so proud of your efforts! All the best on your high school journey ahead.

Many classes took advantage of the local splash pad to cool off & play together. We brought the water park closer to home, with our second annual Water Carnival Day going off with a splash.

Finally, we celebrated the welcoming smile of our Terry Fox community: Ms Fani. She begins her well-deserved retirement with the closing of this school year. As sad as we are to see her go, we are so happy for all the time she’ll have now to spend as she wishes, with friends & family alike.

Wishing all of our Terry Fox families a wonderful summer break! We’ll see you in August! 🍎✏️

In all seriousness, we all look forward to a good old-fashioned BBQ to celebrate the closing of the school year and the beautiful outdoor space we have here at Terry Fox! Come with a ball to make the most of it!

Here comes the busy part! As the end of the year approaches, with it comes the myriad of ‘final projects’.

The Art Extravaganza, our fundraising evening to show off the work students have done all year-long, was well-attended on May 28. Track and Field, the closing Phys. Ed. tournament, took place the day before under sunny skies.

We had many visitors this month, from creatures, like caterpillars in the K wing (on purpose, no imminent infestations. We promise!) and reptiles for Grade 6 Career Day, to creators, like Tristan Demers and Steve Beshwaty who gave workshops for students in celebration of Literacy Week.

Finally, some May traditions continued. Grade 5 visited Quebec City and the surrounding area, getting to step into the history they’ve spent the year studying. In terms of reviving an old tradition, many thanks to our Home and School for all the work that went into planning and running the Scholastic Book Fair!

We’re in the home stretch, with many activities to come in June. Grade 6 is gearing up for Ministry Exams, everyone’s looking forward to the annual barbecue (keep your eyes peeled for a ‘save the date’, and summer vacation is coming closer and closer!

You’ll see plenty of blue sky in our photos this month! While April certainly had its share of showers, we’ve been making the most of our outdoor spaces when the weather cooperates.

Take a look at some of the art we’ve made, the activities we’ve done, and the fun we’ve had making memories! Special visitors like author Lydia Ludikis and team members from the Montreal Steppers brought rich workshops to our students this month. Our annual Spring Dance was a hit for all ages, and excitement for the upcoming Art Extravaganza can be seen in clubs across the school. Into May we go!
