🎙️ What REALLY Happens on the First Day Back at School?

The hallways were buzzing, the classrooms were full and the cameras were rolling as students across the English Montreal School Board officially headed back to class!

To capture all the excitement, EMSB Assistant Director General Jack Chadirdjian took the EMSB podcast on location to Leonardo da Vinci Academy in RDP, where he caught up with Director General Nick Katalifos as well as students, teachers, and the administration for a fun conversation about first-day nerves, summer stories, what they’re looking forward to this year and much more.

For the first day of school we celebrated at Leonardo Da Vinci Academy in RDP. This also marked the start of our meetings with candidates from all parties during the provincial election campaign. Commissioner Pietro Mercuri welcomed Liberal MNA for Lafontaine Marc Tanguay to the school. We are asking all candidates to understand the terrible repercussions if a CAQ pledge to apply Bill 101 to the adult sector is implemented.

📚✏️ We’re back! A new school year is officially underway at the EMSB!

Our Director General, Nick Katalifos, stopped by Leonardo Da Vinci Academy to help welcome students and staff back to class and kick off another year. 🌟

Today's the day! Our students are heading back to class, which means our streets will once again be filled with children walking, biking and taking the bus to school.

🚗 Drivers, please slow down and stay alert. Watch carefully at crosswalks, intersections and around school zones...and remember: always obey the law when approaching a school bus with its flashing red lights and stop sign activated. 🚌

A few extra seconds of patience can make all the difference.

Let’s work together to make sure every student gets to school, and back home, safely. ❤️

Today Mike Cohen was introduced to Nala , the EMSB’s newest service dog. Her handler is longtime Personal Development and Community Involvement Animator Samantha Smith. Nala was trained by the Fondation Asista Foundation 🇨🇦 and will work at six schools: Westmount High School , Willingdon School , St. Monica School , Hampstead School Elizabeth Ballantyne & Edin Burgh
