ℹ️ What’s happening lately at Elks Park?

You may have noticed that a few of the mature trees lining the street at Elks Park have been taken down recently, and that there is construction work currently underway.

🌳The affected trees were deemed by our certified arborists to have a high likelihood of failure due to heavy lean and signs of rot at the base. As a result, these trees were removed to ensure public safety. There are also trees along this row that have a low likelihood of failure and will not be removed.

🚧 Simultaneously, the Elks Club is in the process of constructing a small parking area for visitors. This parking area will help reduce the number of vehicles being parked on the road, improving overall safety for both park users and residents.

Together, these changes will help to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience at Elks Park for years to come.

Update - Aug 21: this advisory has been lifted. Affected residences may now resume normal water use. Thank you for your patience!
..

A precautionary maintenance boil water advisory due to scheduled maintenance will temporarily come into effect Wednesday, August 19th at 9am for the following residences:

• 881 Gilmour Street

• 311, 313, 315, 317, 319 Birchwood Drive

• 881, 883, 884, 885, 886, 887, 888, 889, 890, 891, 892, 893, 894 Park View Place

• 331, 333, 337, 339, 341, 343, 345 and 343 Mountain Street

All affected homes have received a notice.

This scheduled maintenance requires water depressurization which can compromise the safety of the water supply for affected homes, necessitating a precautionary boil water advisory to ensure public health.

The advisory will remain in place until water quality testing results are obtained, following which the Office of Drinking Water will rescind this advisory. We will update this notice at that time. We anticipate water quality results to be received by August 27th, 2026.
