🟥 Msko-mjigoodenh Giizhigad — Red Dress Day

Today, May 5, the people of Deshkan Ziibiing stand with families and Nations across Turtle Island to honour our missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, and Two-Spirit relatives.

Indinawemaaganidog — all our relations.

They are our mothers. Our daughters. Our aunties. Our cousins. Our friends. They belong to us, and we carry them with us — at the river, in our ceremonies, in our language, in this community.

We wear red because it is the colour our ancestors can see.
We speak names because to be remembered is to remain.

Take care of your spirit today, COTTFN. It is okay to step away. Lean on one another.

🔥Community Family Language Nights are BACK!🔥

Every Monday, we’re coming together as a community to learn, speak, and bring our language back into our homes where it belongs.

No experience needed — just show up. Bring your kids, your parents, your grandparents. Let’s learn together.

Education is a pathway—one that carries our youth forward while staying rooted in who they are. When our students feel supported, they’re more confident to keep going, ask questions, and succeed on their own terms.

If you or someone you know is a high school student needing extra support in math, this after-school tutoring program is here to help. With one-on-one assistance, homework support, and a welcoming environment, students are not expected to figure it out alone.

A hot meal, transportation, and a safe space to learn—because removing barriers matters just as much as the learning itself.

Let’s continue lifting up our youth and creating spaces where they can thrive—both in school and in life.

Big news, and some important context: You may have heard that the federal government recently announced plans for a national Sovereign Wealth Fund — a large pool of public money invested to generate long-term returns for Canadians.

But here's what that announcement left out: First Nations.

For over a year, our Nation has been advancing what a First Nations Sovereign Wealth Fund could look like — an investment vehicle governed by First Nations, reflecting our rights as rights-holders, and ensuring our communities benefit from the wealth within our own territories.

Today, the Anishinabek Nation and Chippewas of the Thames First Nation released a joint statement making clear: we are not stakeholders. We are rights-holders. And we must lead and govern investment in projects on our lands.

We are calling on Canada to dedicate 50% ownership in the national fund to First Nations — and to partner with First Nations-led investment rather than duplicate or sideline it.
