🩴☀️ While flip flops and sandals are great for warm, sunny days by the bay, they won’t protect your feet during your fall hiking adventures. 🍂

If you’re wanting to squeeze in another visit to Georgian Bay Islands National Park before the season ends, make sure to before arriving. Check conditions and dress appropriately. 🧦 Dressing appropriately means wearing clothes designed to keep you warm and safe. 🐢 Tiny turtles, big journey! 🐢

Turtle hatchling season has begun at Georgian Bay Islands National Park. Thanks to all the hard work from the Resource Conservation team, 🥽 turtle nests have been protected and hatchlings are ready to emerge into the wild across Beausoleil Island (Bimadinaagogi). 🪺

🌱 If you’re visiting the park, do your part to protect wildlife by staying on marked trails, keeping your distance from animals, and leaving nests and hatchlings undisturbed if you find them. 🐾

Outside of the park, keep a reduced speed on the road and an eye out for hatchlings on trails and roadways. 🛣️

Every small action helps. 💚

🪺 ✨ Small action, big impact! ✨ 🪺

This month, the administration team at Georgian Bay Islands National Park made strides to protect the birds who they share the area with. 🐦

🪟 Staff applied bird collision prevention tape to windows at the administration office. This tape acts as an important conservation action that helps birds recognize glass as a barrier and reduces the risk of window strikes.

This small action can play a huge role in protecting local wildlife. 🫶

🧡 🪶 September 30 is Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. 🪶🧡

Today, we honour the children who never returned home, survivors of residential schools, their families, and their communities. This day reminds us that “Every Child Matters. 🏠

🌅 At Georgian Bay Islands National Park, we recognize the enduring connections that Anishinaabek, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee, and Historic Georgian Bay Métis peoples have with the lands and waters of Beausoleil Island (Bimadinaagogi). We invite you to take time to listen, learn, and reflect on the lasting impacts of residential schools and the ongoing journey toward truth and reconciliation. 🤝
