"Zombie fires" might sound like science fiction, but they are a very real threat in BC. These fires smoulder underground all winter long, waiting for the spring thaw to resurface. 🧟‍♂️❄️

Fire season is no longer just a few weeks in the summer—it’s a year-round conversation. The best time to prepare is right now, before the ground dries out.

It doesn't take a high number of fires to cause massive damage. In 2025, even with fewer fire starts, the total area burned was well above the 10-year average. 🌲🔥

It only takes one fire in the wrong place to change a community forever. Vancouver Island is beautiful, but our thick forests mean we have to be extra vigilant.

1,600 wildfires a year is a staggering number. With 2023 and 2025 breaking records, wildfire season is becoming more intense right here in BC. 📉🔥

We can’t control the weather or the number of starts, but we can control how prepared our own neighborhood is. Most home ignitions are actually caused by stray embers, not the main wall of fire.

Is your home ember-resistant? Find out for free.

Did you know it takes a village—and a fleet—to fight a wildfire? 🚁🛩️

While the BC Wildfire Service uses an incredible array of aircraft to cool flames and slow the spread, their work is most effective when homes on the ground are prepared. By reducing the fuel around your house, you give ground crews a much better chance of defending your property.

Help the teams in the sky and on the ground by making your home a harder target.
