Rotary Club of Nanaimo is where neighbors, friends, and problem-solvers share ideas, join leaders and take action to create lasting change. We meet at 12 p.m.

Each day, our members pour their passion into projects that have a lasting impact. We are roughly 65 professional and business men and women dedicated to improving our community as well as communities around the world. on most Fridays at the Nanaimo Golf Club. Members enjoy Rotary fellowship over lunch which is followed by a short business meeting and a guest speaker. The meetings conclude at 1:30

Members support some of our projects directly with their time, expertise and effort and others indirectly by donations. Fundraising is used to carry out the good work of Rotary in our community and internationally. Our major fund raiser is our Used Book Sale held in the spring and fall. The majority of the proceeds from our fundraisers go directly to our community with a smaller portion going to international projects. Members also donate to Rotary Foundation which supports Local and International Projects, the largest being the Eradication of Polio worldwide. We can be contacted by mail or email

🌲 WHERE THE FUNDS GO | Making trail work a little lighter

Moving loads of gravel up the Alder Trail at Morrell Nature Sanctuary Nanaimo BC. is a long and demanding haul. Funds raised through our Book Sales allowed us to provide a grant toward two electric wheelbarrows for the sanctuary’s trail-maintenance volunteers.

After several weeks of testing, the first wheelbarrow has passed with flying colours. Volunteers have already used it to haul gravel to the Alder Trail, and it has proven so helpful and sturdy that the second one is now being ordered.

This practical equipment will make it easier for volunteers to maintain the trails that so many people in our community enjoy.

WHERE YOUR BOOK SALE SUPPORT GOES 💙

When you shop at the Rotary Club of Nanaimo Book Sale, you help us support organizations and events that strengthen our community.

This year, Rotary was proud to once again be a Gold Sponsor of the Westwood Lake Dragon Boat Regatta, hosted by VI Paddling.

The 2026 regatta brought approximately 1,800 paddlers to Nanaimo, along with hundreds of coaches, volunteers, families and spectators from across Vancouver Island and beyond. Beyond the excitement on the water, the event builds community, supports local tourism and contributes to cancer research.

VI Paddling also invests in youth programs, adaptive paddling, Learn to Dragon Boat programs, coach and volunteer development, and community outreach.

This is what happens when our community supports Rotary. Books are donated. Books are purchased. And those proceeds go back into making Nanaimo and Vancouver Island stronger.

Their ongoing support makes it possible for us to bring thousands of donated books together under one roof, welcome our community through the doors, and raise funds that go right back into local projects and organizations.

📚 Your old books can do new good!

Donate the books you no longer need and help Rotary Nanaimo raise funds to support our community and beyond.

We gladly accept:
• Adult and children’s books
• Current non-fiction
• Puzzles, CDs, DVDs and games

We cannot accept:
• Magazines
• Textbooks
• Damaged books
• Outdated technical or reference materials

📍 Where to donate:
Our only book donation location is the blue bins across from London Drugs at Nanaimo North Town Centre, accessible during mall hours.

Have a large donation? Boxed books can be left beside the bins, or contact us to arrange a drop-off time.

Here’s where your Book Sale support goes. 📚💙

Thanks to the generosity of everyone who donates books, shops our sales and volunteers their time, the Rotary Club of Nanaimo was able to provide funds to Loaves & Fishes Community Food Bank for the purchase of 224 new food recovery bins.

These bins are used every day to collect food donations from 44 grocery stores across Nanaimo, move food through the Loaves & Fishes warehouse, and help supply their Free Food Markets throughout our community.

It is a practical investment that helps Loaves & Fishes recover and distribute food more efficiently, supporting neighbours across Nanaimo every day.

📚 Our Fall Book Sale is getting closer, and we’re getting excited!

There’s a lot we love about Book Sale time, but our favourite part is seeing the community come together. Familiar faces return sale after sale, new people discover us for the first time, and thousands of books find new homes.
