Nanaimo Family Life Association Nanaimo Family Life is dedicated to serving the Nanaimo community.

Since 1967 Nanaimo Family Life Association has personally and positively impacted over 70,000 people in the Nanaimo community by providing programs and services that supports people in achieving their full potential through all stages of life. Nanaimo Family Life defines โ€œfamilyโ€ as: biological relationships, legal relationships, work relationships and/or social, emotional relationships linking its members. We help individuals and families respond to personal challenges and external challenges in a way that fosters healthy relationships and healthy communities.

Nanaimo Family Life Associationโ€™s SHINE Program is currently ๐™ฃ๐™ค๐™ฉ accepting new referrals due to high caseloads and the need to ensure we can continue providing quality support to our existing clients.

We recognize that many older adults in our community are facing increasingly complex challenges, particularly related to housing, financial pressures, and access to appropriate supports. As a result, demand for SHINE services remains very high.

At this time, we have an existing waitlist and will not be reopening before November 1, 2026 at the earliest, based upon caseload demands.

Boundaries can be tough... not because we donโ€™t know what we need, but because saying it out loud can feel guilty, awkward, or too much.

We've put together a workshop for everyone who'd like to explore what healthy boundaries actually look like, why they matter, and how to communicate them in ways that feel respectful, confident and true to you.
