It is with profound sadness that I regretfully confirm that OPP Sergeant Brandon Malcolm was killed in the line of duty along Highway 401 in Cobourg this evening. We honour his service and bravery as we grieve this tremendous loss. We extend our deepest condolences and mourn alongside his loved ones and OPP colleagues across the province.

Together, we played to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics—an organization that means a lot to all of us. Even more special, a couple of the incredible athletes we’re supporting are right here in this photo with us.

It’s a reminder of what these events are really about—community, inclusion, and backing people who inspire us every day with their determination and spirit.

Today was a great moment for our department and our community.

The replacement of Aerial Ladder 811 represents a critical investment in firefighter safety and in maintaining the level of service our residents depend on every day.

We’d like to thank Council for their support in making this happen. This is what meaningful support looks like — ensuring firefighters have safe, reliable equipment to do the job right.

We appreciate the commitment and look forward to continuing to serve the community with the tools needed to do it safely and effectively.
