GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION – ADVANCE VOTING TODAY

The General Municipal Election Advance Voting Poll is open TODAY from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Town Office, located at 275 Hamilton Street.

To be eligible to vote, you must:

Be 18 years of age or older.
Be a Canadian citizen.
Have resided in or owned property in Neepawa for at least six months.
Please bring identification. If you are not already registered on the voters list, you may be required to provide a valid driver’s licence and proof of Canadian citizenship.

Make your voice heard. Your vote matters.

🛴 NEW E-SCOOTER & PERSONAL ELECTRIC VEHICLE RULES COMING IN 2027! ⚡

The Manitoba government is introducing new rules for Personal Electric Vehicles (PEVs) to help keep everyone safe while sharing roads, paths and public spaces.

The Town of Neepawa encourages residents to get familiar with these upcoming changes before they take effect.

🔎 WHAT IS A PEV? Personal Electric Vehicles include: 🛴 Electric kick-scooters (e-scooters) 🛹 Self-balancing scooters and hoverboards ⚡ Electric unicycles and similar devices

🚦 KEY RULES TO KNOW FOR 2027

👤 16 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER PEV riders must be at least 16 years old.

🪖 HELMETS ARE MANDATORY All riders must wear a properly fitted helmet, including passengers where the vehicle is designed to carry them.

🚲 WHERE CAN YOU RIDE? ✅ Roads with speed limits of 50 km/h or less ✅ Shared paths, such as bike paths ❌ Sidewalks are prohibited unless specifically permitted by a sign or traffic control device.

💨 MAXIMUM SPEED: 25 KM/H PEVs must not exceed the maximum permitted speed.

🚧 FOLLOW THE RULES OF THE ROAD When riding a PEV, remember to: • Obey all traffic signs and signals. • Use hand signals when turning or stopping. • Ride in single file. • Travel as close to the right curb as practicable. • Carry only the number of passengers the vehicle is designed for. • Keep your hearing clear by not wearing headphones or earphones in both ears. • Use a front white light at night or whenever visibility is poor. • Never text while riding.

👮 SAFETY INSPECTIONS Peace officers may stop and inspect a PEV and its safety equipment at any time.

💡 LET'S KEEP NEepawa SAFE! Whether you're travelling to school, commuting or enjoying a ride, knowing the rules helps protect you and everyone around you.
