New Victoria Volunteer Fire Dept - Station 28 This page is dedicated to providing the public information about safety and the activities of the New Victoria Volunteer Fire Dept

Fire Department Members:
We have 24 members consisting of 3 Chief Officers, 2 Captains, 2 Lieutenants, 1 Safety Officer and 16 Firefighters. Our Dept was established in 1942 during world war 2, the Dept was formed by a group of men who during the war were designated to insure all the homes in the area were blacked out after dark to keep from being spotted by aircraft and bombers. So that same group formed the fire dept at the same time.

Our members along with Scotchtown Vol. Fire Dept. spent their Sunday in Florence at the awesome new Training Facility created and built by the Departments in North Division. We focused on different types of Fire attacks, Flowing water effectively and some Vent Enter Isolate Search training, it’s a game changer having the ability to flow water inside a structure during training. We can’t Thank the Florence Fire Department enough for allowing us to use their facilities. Also a Thanks to our members and their families for allowing us to use their Sunday to help better serve the community.

Our members had an exceptional weekend, with 6 participating in the 2026 Holmatro Rescue event hosted by Safety Source Fire, Fire Training Associates, Holmatro USA & Canada. The event provided opportunities for very realistic training and hands-on experience with the latest and greatest in extrication and stabilization equipment. We appreciate Glace Bay Fire for arranging and setting up this valuable learning experience. Also this weekend 3 members completed their 40-hour Advanced Medical First Responders course, we Thank all our members and their families for the time dedicated to bettering our department.
