New Waterford Volunteer fire would like to extend its thanks to all residents and businesses in the CBRM. Your messages and offers of support are greatly appreciated. Our prior post about the loss of our rescue saw during a structure fire was not a cry for financial support to replace it, but rather a heads up on the state of our communities at this time. As discouraging as it was for us to lose a valuable piece of equipment from our truck, there are residents losing their valuables nightly. We have to stand up and take our communities back. Laws need to change so police can do their jobs so our towns feel safe again. We were able to replace our rescue saw through the continued support of our residents near and far from past fundraisers. Thank you all once again from the bottom of our hearts. NWVFD

Late Sunday night while our volunteer firefighters were on Tenth Street in the middle of the night, doing what they always do, protecting our community, a shocking theft took place.
While our members were actively fighting a fire, someone stole a rescue saw valued at $3000 from the back of one of our fire trucks. This wasn't just a piece of equipment, it is a critical lifesaving tool that our firefighters rely on during emergencies.
What makes this even more heartbreaking is that this equipment wasn't purchased by a large organization. It was purchased through the generosity of our community. Every fundraiser, every donation, every ticket purchased, and every dollar contributed by local residents helped put this tool on our truck.
To steal from a volunteer fire department while firefighters are risking their own safety to protect others is more than theft, it is a theft from every member of this community.
Someone witnessed this happen, and we're hopeful that others may have seen something as well. If you were in the area of Tenth Street last night or have any information, no matter how small it may seem, please contact the appropriate authorities. Your information could help recover this essential piece of equipment and hold the person responsible accountable.
Our volunteers will continue to answer every call, day or night, because that's what we do. We simply ask that our community stand with us now, just as we have always stood with you.

Unfortunately, due to the forecasted weather, we have made the decision to cancel our Kids Water Day at the New Waterford Volunteer Fire Department.
The safety of everyone attending is our top priority, and we don't want the weather to put a damper on what should be a fun day.
The good news is that we're planning a Back-to-School Water Day in August, when we're hoping for warmer, sunnier weather! We can't wait to see everyone then for an afternoon of fun, water, and community.
