Honour House Society

Honour House Society Providing a free, temporary home away from home for Canadian Forces and Emergency Services personnel.

Our Mission is Never Over

Honour House provides a temporary home for our Canadian Forces, Veterans, Emergency Services Personnel and their families while they travel to receive medical care and treatment in the Metro Vancouver Area. Members of our Military and Police Officers, Fire Fighters, Paramedics, Corrections Officers, Sheriffs, Coast Guards, Search and Rescue and retired members of all of

these groups along with immediate family members (wives, husbands, common law partners and their children) are all welcome to stay at Honour House free of charge. These brave men and women, along with their families, sacrifice so much to protect our freedom and our everyday way of life, each and every day. Honour House allows us the opportunity to show our support and appreciation for their selfless sacrifice. Honour House is proud to support our brave Canadians and their families by providing them with a home away from home where they can recuperate and forget about the financial stresses associated with their need to leave home for treatment. Since September 2011 Honour House has saved our guests hundreds of thousands of dollars in out of pocket costs in accommodation fees. Suffering from any form of serious illness is a very stressful event in anyone’s life. Consider a person who’s day to day job involves some of the most tense and stressful situations imaginable and then include a serious illness for them or a member of their family. On top of all of this they then have to leave behind their homes and the support of their friends and family as they travel to an unfamiliar city for treatment. Providing a free, safe, comfortable and relaxing home away from home for some of our bravest Canadians is the very least that we can do.

A big thank you to the members of Local 258 IBEW for their great effort in raising funds for Honour House Society through their annual Hockey Tournament.

This group also value the skills that veterans aquire through their service. They take an active role in recruiting to make sure that there are jobs available once their time in the forces come to and end.

Thank you for the support!

Honour House Society was saddened to learn of the passing of founding board director, Ted Hawthorne.

Ted was instrumental in setting up the societal status for Honour House. A well-respected member of the Honorary Colonel community. Our thoughts are with his family and everyone he had an impact on.

We absolutely love it when New Westminster Police come along with their members to give our garden and House a once-over.

In just a few hours, with a dozen or so people, they can do what it takes us months to do. We are truly grateful for their partnership!

March 4th, 2026 marks the 20 year anniversary of the attack on Captain Trevor Greene in Afghanistan.

It was Trevor's journey in healing that inspired Honour House Society's founding members.

We continue to be inspired everyday by his incredible journey and the strength of the entire Greene family.

Our thoughts are with the entire community of Tumbler Ridge.

An inspiring conversation with Al De Genova, sharing the story of Honour House Society, a “home away from home” that supports military members, veterans, and emergency services personnel, along with their families, while they receive medical care and treatment in the Metro Vancouver area, and Honour Ranch, a tranquil facility near Ashcroft providing treatment for operational stress injuries, such as PTSD.
