Clarington East Food Bank We provide food assistance to those living in Newcastle, Orono, Newtonville, Kendal, and Kirby.

We support approximately 100 families per month with non-perishable food items, diapers, formula, and toiletries.

This is one of the families our Back to School program was able to support this year. 💛

"The gift card helped us bring home some of the things that will make the new school year great for our son. We truly appreciate the generosity and kindness of everyone who made this possible."

This year, Clarington East Food Bank gave out $13,000 in Walmart gift cards to 62 families, supporting over 156 students across our community, not pre-packed backpacks, but gift cards, because we believe in a hand up, not a hand out. That means a parent gets to take their child shopping and let them pick out the backpack THEY love.

A huge thank you to Bloomfield Gardens, Rona, and the Wilmot Creek Entertainment and Dart Committees for helping make moments like this one possible.

🌽 A BIG THANK YOU TO NAOMI’S HOMESTEAD FARM MARKET! 🌽

Fresh, local corn is always a treat and thanks to the generosity of Tomar Farms & Naomi’s Homestead Farm Market, our families have been enjoying some of the sweetest, most delicious corn of the season! 💛

They have been generously providing us with fresh corn throughout the season, and so far, they have donated an incredible 8 bushels! 🌽🌽🌽

There is something pretty special about being able to offer locally grown, farm-fresh produce to the families who visit the Clarington East Food Bank. It adds variety, freshness, and a little taste of summer to the food hampers our clients take home.

We are so grateful to Farms and Naomi’s Homestead Farm Market for thinking of our community and continuing to support local families through their generous donations. Your kindness is making a difference, one delicious ear of corn at a time! 💚

August is a strange month for us. 🌽

Our produce tables are overflowing thanks to Wilmot Orchards, Gibson Farms, Kent Farms, and community gardens like Wilmot Creek Garden Club and Jury Lands — our neighbours love it, we love it.

But in the warehouse? The canned corn, kidney beans, and peanut butter shelves are close to empty. Hunger doesn't take a summer break, even when donations quietly do.

Your dollar goes further right now than almost any other time of year — it's what keeps our doors open until fall food drives restock us. 💚

PSA: toilet paper is a food bank hero item, and nobody talks about it enough. 👏

Huge thanks to everyone who donated, and an extra-big thank you to Krumbs Breadery&Stuff for the massive contribution — seriously, a mountain of it! Our Neighbours use over 100 rolls a month, so this makes a real difference.

Dignity comes in small (and sometimes very large) packages. Thank you for showing up for the essentials. 🧻💛

If you're facing food insecurity, Clarington East Food Bank is here to help. No judgment, no exceptions. Our services are 100% free and open to anyone living in Newcastle, Orono, Newtonville, Kendal, or Kirby.

Prefer a dedicated time or want to skip the wait? You can book a visit online or by phone.

🧾 WHAT TO BRING
ID showing proof of address for everyone in your household. That's it. Your information stays confidential.

🛒 WHAT TO EXPECT
A volunteer will greet you and walk you through a simple registration. We use a personal-shopping, points-based system so you choose the food and hygiene items your family actually needs — a shopper will guide you the whole way through.

🎒❤️ Thank You, Wilmot Creek! ❤️🎒

A heartfelt thank you to the wonderful residents of Wilmot Creek for supporting our Back 2 School Support Program with a generous donation of $1,000 in Walmart gift cards! 🎁

As families prepare for a new school year, the costs can add up quickly: new clothes, shoes, backpacks, school supplies, and all those little extras that children need. For families already trying to make ends meet, it can be stressful wondering, "How are we going to afford everything our children need?”

Your generosity helps take away some of that worry and allows parents to focus on getting their children ready for a successful school year. 📚✏️🎒

One dad shared with us how receiving the gift cards eliminated the stress he had been feeling about getting ready for school for his four children. Instead of worrying about how he was going to stretch his budget to cover four sets of school needs, he could breathe a little easier and feel confident knowing he had some help.

That is what community support looks like. ❤️

Thank you, Wilmot Creek, for helping local families start the school year with less stress, more confidence and a little more joy. Your kindness is making a real difference in the lives of children and families right here in our community.
