🎆 Victoria Day Fireworks Safety Tips 🎆

Planning to celebrate Victoria Day with fireworks? Here's how to enjoy them safely:

Check Local Regulations
Before making plans, verify that fireworks use is permitted on the desired date by consulting local bylaws.

Purchase from Authorized Retailers
Ensure you buy fireworks from reputable sources that comply with Canadian safety standards. Remember, you must be 18 or older to purchase fireworks.

Prepare the Launch Area
Select a spacious, open area free from flammable materials. Follow safety instructions on the fireworks labels, including maintaining safe distances from spectators, trees, and buildings.

Handling Malfunctions
If a firework fails to ignite, wait 15 to 20 minutes before approaching it. Never attempt to re-light a dud.

Clean Up Responsibly
After the display, collect all debris and check for any smoldering materials. Dispose of them according to the manufacturer's guidelines.

Today was part of our tradition with our 7th annual BBQ lunch.
A day that brings together our newest recruits, current crews, and retirees.
Shared meals and events like this mean so much to all of us. You may have heard before “the fire service is like one big family”.
Days like this are essentially a reunion for us. A chance to share what’s new, and to reflect on past experiences and wisdom from our retirees.
Chief Rocco Volpe is very passionate about making this an annual tradition, so we all stay close and connected.
Thank you, Chief Volpe, for organizing the opportunity for all of us to be together!
