Newmarket Library is nominated for a Top Innovator Award at this year’s Business Excellence Awards, presented by the Central York Chamber of Commerce. The nomination reflects the Library’s commitment to reimagining what a library can be through our vision of “Anything and Everywhere”.

From self-serve book kiosks, to a streamlined member sign-up process, to an outreach team that attends over 200 community events a year, we are prioritizing connecting with residents where they're at. We're also proud of how our non-traditional collection (including games, tools, and Experience Passes) has grown in use and popularity. The awards will take place on Thursday, Nov. 5 at Old Town Hall.

Here’s a unique twist in voting: a booth at the Library! We’ve turned one of our soundproof study pods on the main floor into a voting booth for the duration of the municipal election from October 17 to 26. Drop in, cast your ballot online, and after making your choices, make some more by borrowing a book, movie or other Library item to take home. You can participate in a new chapter in voting, right now at your Library!

Will you be a loud supporter of libraries? Are you a champion for the library in your community? Loud for Libraries is the theme of this year’s Ontario Public Library Week (OPLW) from October 18 to 24, recognizing that advocacy and support are essential to ensure communities have strong, dependable library services. Every voice can play a role, and support from residents helps ensure the library remains a vibrant community hub for dialogue, learning, creativity and connection. Loud for Libraries reinforces the idea that libraries play a vital role in people’s lives and are worth speaking up for.
