Sometimes the sweetest gestures make a big difference! 🍫🔥

We want to send a big thank you to the wonderful folks at Camp Coyote Bones, who recently hosted an event at Heartland Forest and took the opportunity to give back by selling s'mores and holding a raffle to raise funds for our organization.

It's thoughtful gestures like these that remind us how lucky we are to have such a supportive community. Every rental and donation helps us continue caring for our forest and creating opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to connect with nature.

Thank you, Camp Coyote Bones, for thinking of Heartland Forest and choosing to support the work we do. We're so grateful for your generosity! 💚

💚 Help Us Support One of Our Own! 💚 If you've visited Heartland Forest, chances are you've met Renata!

Renata is a valued member of our team, and those who know her know just how much her independence means to her.

Renata's power wheelchair needs to be replaced, but unfortunately, an important feature she relies on, power seat elevation, is no longer covered by funding, leaving her with a $2,600 expense.

This feature allows Renata to raise herself to reach counters, shelves and everyday items, interact with others at eye level, and carry out daily activities with greater independence.

We're hoping our wonderful community can help!

A personal GoFundMe has been created on Renata's behalf, and we're happy to help spread the word.

In October, Niagara Region Public Health will be conducting tick surveillance in areas throughout the region (including Heartland Forest).

Public Health staff will be using a method called “tick dragging” where a large cloth is pulled along trails, tall grass and other vegetation to collect active ticks. These ticks are used to help monitor local populations and assess the risk of tick-borne illnesses, including Lyme disease.

You may see Public Health staff conducting this work while wearing white protective suits.

This surveillance is part of Niagara Region’s ongoing efforts to monitor tick populations and inform public health risk assessments across the region.

A huge thank you to the team at Niagara Falls Battlefield Equipment for their generous support of Heartland Forest! 💚 Their equipment donation helped us reduce the costs of a major improvement project, allowing more of our charitable resources to support the spaces and experiences our community enjoys.

Battlefield recognizes the importance of accessible play spaces where families can connect, play and enjoy the outdoors together. 🌿

Thank you, Niagara Falls Battlefield Equipment, for investing in our community and helping Heartland grow!
