Happy Pride, from all of us at Victim Services Niagara 🏳️‍🌈

At Victim Services, we believe that everyone deserves to feel safe, supported, respected, and believed. We also acknowledge that members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community continue to experience disproportionately high rates of violence, harassment, discrimination, and victimization and our staff are committed to ensuring equitable service to all.

Pride is a celebration, but it is also a reminder of the importance of creating communities where all people can live authentically and free from harm.

This month and every month, we remain committed to providing inclusive, compassionate, and trauma-informed support to all survivors.

Victim Services Niagara would like to extend our deepest appreciation to our friends at for hosting the first annual Paddle for a Purpose in support of our agency 🛶 ❤️

Today’s event was not only a fun and exciting day for our staff, the community, and our community partners, but it was also a wonderful way to spread awareness about the work we do and raise money in support of our efforts.

Events such as these fuel the future of our programming and we could not do the work we do without the kind of support we received today.

To all of today’s sponsors, attendees, and participants, thank you for supporting us and helping us reach those who need us most.

Special shout out and congratulations to our partners at the for taking home the gold in today’s races!

In 2025, our team had the honour of supporting 12 mothers in crisis during, or immediately after, the death of their child or infant. These are calls which our staff remember often and days which we feel particularly honoured to be doing this work.

Today on Mother’s Day, we hold space for these woman and offer a flower in honour of each of them and their grief.

We recognize that Mother’s Day can carry many emotions. For mothers grieving a child, today may bring complex and difficult emotions. We are thinking of you today and continue to be here to offer support.

From all of us at Victim Services Niagara, we are sending compassion, remembrance, and care to every bereaved mother this Mother’s Day.

Today, on Red Dress Day, we honour and remember Missing and Murdered Indigenous women, girls, and two- spirit people.

Statistics are more than a number. They reflect real lives lost, families in mourning, and the systems which perpetuate the disproportionately high rate of violence against Indigenous people.

At Victim Services Niagara, we recognize the importance of this day as a time for reflection, awareness, and action. We remain committed to upholding the principles of Truth and Reconciliation by listening, learning, and working closely alongside Indigenous communities to support healing, safety and justice.

May 1st 🚔 🚒 🚑

Behind every call, every response, and every moment of crisis support, there is a partnership that extends far beyond what the public sees.

This First Responders Day, we want to recognize and thank our partners at , , and not only for the critical frontline work they do with us every day, but for the support that they offer our agency behind the scenes, which is often overlooked.

From standing alongside us in advocating for meaningful policy change, to offering powerful leadership on our board of directors, to showing up for community events and supporting our fundraising efforts in ways big and small, your commitment to this work does not go unnoticed.

We are deeply grateful for the collaboration, trust, and shared dedication to supporting victims and building safer, more compassionate communities. It is an honour to work alongside you.

It was never about the clothes.

April 29 is , a global campaign to raise awareness and challenge harmful victim- blaming narratives surrounding sexual assault.

Clothes do not cause assaults and cannot be used to excuse or justify them. Violence causes assaults.

To ask a victim what they were wearing at the time of their assault is to imply that they are to blame for the violence caused against them.

Do better and shift the blame onto the perpetrator, where it belongs.

We measure success a little differently around here 🫶🏻

In our world, success when working with young survivors is often measured by the small and meaningful moments.

Our Child & Family Support Program offers young people and their carers the support they need to begin their recovery, starting right from the moment that emergency services arrive on scene. Our staff meet young people in all kinds of situations and environments that all have one thing in common- they all require a compassionate, timely, and trauma- informed approach to care.

We are honoured to be allowed into young people’s most challenging, vulnerable, and scary moments every day, to offer them support.
