In June, we recognize Pride and Indigenous History Month at the library to honour the history and resilience of our 2SLGBTQIA+ and Indigenous community members. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🧡

The first Pride Week events in Canada took place in August in several cities from 1973 through the 1990s, before transitioning to a month-long celebration.

National Indigenous Peoples Day is celebrated on June 21st, intentionally chosen to align with the summer solstice. For generations, many First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities have marked the solstice as a sacred time of renewal, celebration, and connection.

Our displays will be available throughout the month of June, so be sure to stop by the library and grab one of our featured reads and explore a new perspective. 📖

Are you a scrapbooker, or maybe you make custom cards and other paper crafts? Join us at the library on Wednesday evenings for the Scrapbooking Social Club and meet other like-minded creatives in your community! ✂️ 🖼️

These social meetups will take place in The Hive and offer a laid-back and welcoming environment to express your creativity. Participants are also welcome to utilize all of our creative equipment in The Hive, such as our Cricut cutting machine, thermal sticker printer and instant mobile photo printer. 📸
