'A short history of Niagara', a short piece of puppet theatre presented by the Shaw festival is on its last week at the botanical gardens.

If you haven't seen this fascinating and high quality performance, it is well worth a look - particularly for those interested in the heritage of our community.

The show runs twice a day, Thursday until Tuesday (No shows on Wednesday) at 11am and 1pm in a tent right beside the butterfly conservatory. The play's runtime is approximately 30 minutes and the last day to see it is August 18th.

There is no admission cost for this amazing presentation, it is free to all guests of the parks.

This summer, Niagara Parks and the Shaw Festival invite you to discover A Short History of Niagara, a free outdoor theatrical experience for families at the Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens.

We just wanted to take a moment to mark the 200th anniversary of the types riot which took place on June 8th, 1826.

Members and supporters of the family compact, incensed by William Lyon Mackenzie's accusations of corruption in his newspaper - the Colonial Advocate, attacked Mackenzie's print shop. They destroyed his property and threw his type cases into the Toronto Harbour.

Jokes on them, Mackenzie sued and used the money he received to kickstart his political career.
