We missed our June Calls for Service post, so here are both June and July!

In June 2026, Niverville Fire & Emergency Services received 17 calls for service. In July 2026, Niverville Fire & Emergency Services received 24 calls for service. This means we've received a total of 179 calls this year to date!

The Town of Niverville would like to remind residents that our Fire Hall number is not regularly staffed, and is not ordinarily an emergency number. It is only used as an emergency number in situations such as we experienced yesterday.

Please continue to use 911 in the case of emergencies.

In May 2026, Niverville Fire & Emergency Services received 33 calls for service, with a total of 138 calls this year to date!

Niverville Fire & Emergency Services would like to express its deepest condolences to Chief Sparham's family, friends, and to the members of the Headingley Fire Department and the Winnipeg Fire Department.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our Fire Chief John Sparham.

Our department is grieving the loss of a respected leader, mentor, and friend who dedicated himself to serving our community through both our volunteer fire department and the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service.

We extend our deepest condolences to Chief Sparham’s family, friends, crews, and colleagues during this difficult time. We ask that you keep them, and our department members, in your thoughts as we mourn this tremendous loss.

Chief Sparham’s service and dedication will not be forgotten.

Information regarding memorial and funeral arrangements will be shared as it becomes available and with the family’s consent.

Thank you to our department members who provide medical first response, the STARS team, transport EMS, and so many more. We are grateful for the service you provide to our community!

Fire Risk is now at Level I. This means fires are allowed in approved receptacles, with open-air fires (meaning fires outside an approved receptacle) allowed with a permit. This also includes fireworks.

If you do plan on having a fire, please remember that no fires are allowed during high winds, and ensure all fires are put out properly.

With it still being dry, and wind gust speeds expected to exceed 100 km/h today, the Town of Niverville wants to remind all residents that no burning is allowed during high winds.

Currently, our Fire Bylaw states that no fires are allowed to be set or maintained when wind speeds meet or exceed 32 km/h.

As well, please keep an eye out for and report immediately any downed power lines that you may notice.
