The Shawanaga First Nation Lands Department would like to inform community members that trap nets will be set in the Shawanaga River throughout this week and next week as part of ongoing walleye population monitoring efforts.

This initiative is strictly catch-and-release, with walleye being safely tagged and released back into the river. The information collected will help the Lands Department better understand walleye populations, movement patterns, and overall fishery health.

Shawanaga First Nation is requesting that all Membership update their personal and contact information to ensure our records remain accurate and up to date. Maintaining current information helps us keep Members informed of important community news, announcements, and updates.

Members are encouraged to complete and submit the Contact Information Update Form using one of the following methods:

Email: Submit the completed form to [email protected].

In Person: Paper copies of the form are available at the Shawanaga First Nation Administration Office for Members who prefer to complete the form in person.

We appreciate your cooperation and assistance in keeping our Membership records current and ensuring our community remains connected and informed.

MEMBERSHIP NOTICE – OFNLP BENEFIT APPLICATIONS

When applying for the OFNLP Benefit, please ensure that you are following the policy and application requirements as directed.

Please remember to include:

✅ A completed application
✅ A photocopy of the FRONT of your Status Card
✅ A photocopy of the BACK of your Status Card

Applications that are missing required information or documentation may be delayed, denied or returned.

We kindly ask all members to review the policy carefully and ensure all required documents are included when submitting your application.

Update on the Waterline on Shebeshekong Rd:

The main waterline on Shebeshekong Road has been repaired (4:17pm) and water service is being restored.

Please allow your toilets and tanks a few minutes to refill as the system returns to normal.

Update to Community:

Water is currently OFF on Shebeshekong Rd. Time of restoration: 5:30pm.

UPDATE FOR COMMUNITY: Please be advised that Norwin Contracting will begin work in front of the Administration Office on Monday, October 5th.

There is no scheduled water shut-off at this time; however, short water interruptions may occur during the work process.

We apologize for any confusion and appreciate your patience and understanding while this work is underway.

Shawanaga First Nation extends its deepest condolences to all those affected by the tragic fire at CFB Wainwright in Alberta.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families, loved ones, and members of the Canadian Armed Forces during this difficult time.

TRANSIT SERVICE UPDATE – OCTOBER 16TH
