Today, we were proud to partner with the Turtle’s Nest Child and Youth Advocacy Centre to bring local professionals together for an important training session on recognizing and responding to sentinel injuries in infants and young children.

We welcomed professionals from healthcare, law enforcement, child welfare, victim services, and other community partners, creating an opportunity to strengthen knowledge and collaboration across our community.

Thank you to Dr. Lord from CHEO for sharing her expertise and to Dr. Grise, local pediatrician, for bringing a valuable local clinical perspective to the discussion.

We are grateful to everyone who joined us and continues to work together to support the safety and well-being of children and families in our community.

Today, we gathered at the Shabogesic Beach to listen, reflect, and learn.

Thank you to our staff Kim for leading a powerful drumming session, and to the youth who courageously shared their experiences of being in care.

As child welfare organization, we have a responsibility to listen, learn from lived experience, and honour the identity, culture, family, and community of every child and youth.

We hear their voices. We honour their stories. We commit to doing better.

Today, on Orange Shirt Day, we remember the children who were separated from their families, communities and cultures through the residential school system, honour Survivors, and recognize the lasting impacts.

As a child welfare organization, we have a responsibility to learn from this history and reflect on how we can better support Indigenous children and families by keeping children connected to their family, culture, identity and community.

We remember. We listen. We learn. We commit to doing better.

Just a reminder tonight is the start of WhizKids in partnership with United for Literacy!
We are half way full, but there is still room for more youth!

WhizKids is a free tutoring program for students in Grades 2–4, running Mondays from 5:00–6:30 p.m.

Please find the attached flyer with more information and registration details below.

Please note that we will include gym time as well as a snack for youth participating!

This program is open to the entire community!
