After 15 years of service to North Saanich, Councillor Celia Stock has decided not to seek re-election this fall.

First elected in 2011, Councillor Stock went on to serve four terms on Council, winning re-election in 2014 and 2022 and being acclaimed in 2018.

Throughout those years, she has been a dedicated advocate for North Saanich and its rural and agricultural character, while also representing the District on numerous local and regional committees.

Celia brought an extraordinary depth of public-service experience to the Council table, including a 38-year career with the Government of Canada, work with First Nations through treaty and self-government negotiations, and earlier municipal service as an Alderman in Yellowknife.

She has also been deeply involved in her community as a volunteer and longtime member of the Peninsula Singers.

Thank you, Councillor Stock, for 15 years of service, commitment, and dedication to North Saanich.

We wish you all the very best in your next chapter.

❌ Please don’t dump green waste in public areas 🌿

The District has recently received reports of yard and green waste being dumped along roadsides and in other public areas, including at the Derrick Road cul-de-sac.

In some cases, material has been dumped directly on top of utility water meter boxes, blocking access for inspection and maintenance.

Branches, leaves, grass clippings and other yard waste should not be left on roadsides, boulevards or public property.

🌿 Residents can dispose of eligible material at the North Saanich Green Waste Facility. Check opening hours and accepted materials here:

🏠 October is Foster Family Month in BC!

This month is a time to celebrate these caregivers, who have committed to protecting and caring for some of our most vulnerable children and youth. 🩵

There is no substitute for a caring, trusting relationship in the life of a child. While every child’s reason for entering foster care is unique, it is the compassion, patience and understanding provided by foster parents that helps ensure they are able to thrive. The warmth and generosity that they provide, and the resulting benefits for the child's future, are the greatest gifts one can offer.
