💚 Thank You, Lindsey! 💚

A heartfelt thank you to Lindsey Shepherd from Hidden Housing Solutions and the Hollyburn Society, for joining us this morning at our weekly Cap Services Free Community Breakfast, to share information about with our seniors.

The presentation explored how home sharing can help older adults remain in the homes they love while benefiting from companionship, additional income, peace of mind, and greater independence. It was a thoughtful discussion about practical ways to support healthy aging and housing stability on the North Shore.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Today, we honour Residential School Survivors, their families, and communities, and remember the children who never returned home. This day is a time to reflect on painful truths, listen with humility, and acknowledge the lasting impacts of the residential school system, impacts that continue to be felt by Indigenous individuals, families, and communities today.

At Capilano Community Services, we do not see reconciliation as a destination or a statement of accomplishment. It is an ongoing process of listening, learning, building relationships, and recognizing that there is still much to understand. We acknowledge with gratitude that we work, learn, and serve on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation), səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh Nation), and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam Nation).

Today, we honour the history, resilience, and rich cultures of Indigenous communities. May we continue to learn, respect, and uplift Indigenous voices, not only today, but throughout the year.

❤️ Helping North Shore Residents Stay Independent ❤️

Every day, the volunteers and staff of our Red Cross Health Equipment Loan Program (HELP) work behind the scenes to ensure people recovering from surgery, illness, or injury have access to the equipment they need to live safely and comfortably at home.

From loading and unloading equipment to helping clients find the right fit, this dedicated team keeps an essential community service running week after week.

💚 Over the past year:
• 7,895 pieces of equipment loaned
• 3,372 clients served
• 6,578 volunteer hours contributed

HELP has been supporting the North Shore community for more than 50 years, and none of it would be possible without the incredible volunteers who generously share their time, knowledge, and care. Many were once clients themselves and have returned to help others on their recovery journey.

A heartfelt thank you to the entire HELP team for helping thousands of North Shore residents remain active, independent, and connected to their community. ❤️

✨ One of Our Favourite Nights of the Year Is Back! ✨

There is something special about the Moon Festival Potluck. Maybe it’s the incredible variety of dishes, the stories shared around the table, or the chance to gather with friends old and new as the seasons begin to change.

This Community Potluck is free, and open to all-ages. Everyone is encouraged to bring a dish to share. Whether it’s a family favourite, a dish that reflects your culture, or simply something you love to eat, we’d be delighted to try it!!

And of course, no Moon Festival celebration would be complete without mooncakes. 🥮
