We’re thankful for the little things that make our North Shore community feel like home: a warm smile, a helping hand, a thoughtful word. These small moments of kindness bring us all closer together.

We know Thanksgiving looks different for everyone. However you’re spending it, we hope you find moments of warmth, kindness and connection.

We’re especially grateful to our volunteers, donors, community partners, staff and neighbours who show up for one another when it matters most. Your support, generosity and leadership are changing lives every day, helping the people we serve overcome challenges, build stability and find their way forward.

Thank you for believing in our work and sharing our commitment to meaningful change across the North Shore.

October 10 marks both World Homeless Day and World Mental Health Day — two important reminders that the challenges people face are often deeply connected.

Housing instability can take a serious toll on mental health. And mental health challenges can make it harder to find or maintain safe, stable housing.

For many people, these challenges don’t happen in isolation. Financial pressures, family breakdown, trauma, isolation and a lack of support can all make an already difficult situation even harder.

At The Hollyburn Society, we know that finding a way forward is rarely about solving just one problem.

That’s why we look at the whole person, not just the challenges they’re facing. Through housing, outreach, counselling and practical support, we work alongside youth, seniors, families and survivors of abuse and violence across the North Shore to help them build safety, stability and a stronger future.

Because everyone deserves more than a temporary solution. They deserve the opportunity to move forward.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation 🧡

Today, we pause to remember the children who never came home, honour residential school survivors and their families, and recognize the lasting impact of residential schools on Indigenous Peoples and communities.

Here on the North Shore, we are honoured to live, work and gather on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of the Coast Salish peoples: the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, Səl̓ílwətaɬ and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm Nations.

At The Hollyburn Society, we value our ongoing partnerships with local Nations. Through meaningful conversations, collaboration and knowledge sharing, we’re learning from one another and deepening our understanding of the barriers facing Indigenous people in our community. Together, we’re exploring practical ways to strengthen connection, equity and belonging, while developing opportunities in housing, employment and education that help people find a way forward.

Today, and every day, is a reminder to reflect on what we’ve learned, listen to Indigenous voices, and consider how we can continue to learn, grow and do better in the communities we’re part of.

We remember. We listen. We learn. And we keep moving forward together.

Thank you for showing up, walking with Seniors and making it happen.

The first ever North Shore Grand Parade is officially in the books and what a day it was!

Together, our North Shore community raised over $22,500 to support seniors and help create more opportunities for connection, active living and ageing well.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who walked, fundraised, donated, volunteered, sponsored, cheered us on and helped make the day so special.

From our walkers and teams to our incredible sponsors and community partners, this was a true community effort.
