Start your Canada Day with a free community pancake breakfast hosted by the Township of Asphodel-Norwood Special Events Committee.

πŸ“… Date: Wednesday, July 1, 2026
⏰ Time: 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
πŸ“ Location: Town Hall

Canada Day cake will be served following breakfast.

The morning will also include outdoor entertainment and kid-friendly activities provided by Backroad Collective - Camexicanus, with door prizes drawn throughout the morning. Attendees must be present to win.

Special appearances will be made by Bonnie Clark, Warden of Peterborough County, and MPP David Piccini.

A sincere thank you to the many community partners and volunteers helping to support this event, including Maple View Retirement Norwood Ontario, Linlor Farm Pure Maple Products, the Ontario Milk Board, Quaker Oats, the Norwood Ontario Lions Club, and members of Council and Asphodel-Norwood Fire & Rescue.

Food items and glow sticks will be available while supplies last.

πŸ§‘β€πŸŒΎ FREE Rough Mulch Available for Resident Pick Up

Free rough shredded mulch is available at the Township of Asphodel-Norwood Transfer Station for residents while quantities last.

This mulch was generated from brush collected following the ice storm and is very rough in quality.

Residents interested in picking up mulch must bring their own tools, containers, and means of loading and transporting the material.

Transfer Station Hours:
β€’ Mondays: 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
β€’ Wednesdays: 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. (June 1 to September 30 only)
β€’ Saturdays: 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Reminder: The Transfer Station is closed on all Statutory and Public Holidays.

πŸ– School is out - and it’s the perfect time to clean out pencil cases, backpacks, desks, and drawers!

The Township of Asphodel-Norwood is participating in Clean Up Peterborough’s 2nd Annual Writing Instrument Challenge. Until June 30, residents are encouraged to collect used plastic-based writing instruments to help divert waste from landfill.

Accepted items include:
β€’ Pens
β€’ Markers
β€’ Highlighters
β€’ Mechanical pencils

Please note that wooden pencils, pencil crayons, and crayons are not accepted. Writing instruments with metal components are accepted and will be separated during processing.

Reminder that Stage 1 of the County Road 40 Reconstruction Project (Wellington Street to Helen Street) is scheduled to begin Monday, June 29, 2026.

🚫 A Full road closure will be in effect for approximately 6 weeks to allow for sanitary sewer upgrades.

⚠️ What to expect:
β€’ Significant traffic impacts
β€’ Limited pedestrian access
β€’ Increased travel times

➑️ Detour routes will be in place via:
β€’ Dummer/Asphodel Boundary Road
β€’ Asphodel 11th Line
β€’ Highway 7

The Township of Asphodel-Norwood is pleased to announce the appointment of Ed Whitmore as Chief Administrative Officer and Jordan Webb as Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, effective August 1, 2026.

Council extends its congratulations to Mr. Whitmore and Mr. Webb on their appointments and looks forward to working with them in their expanded leadership roles. Council also expresses its sincere appreciation to outgoing Interim CAO Mike Rutter for his leadership, guidance, and steady support over the past year.
