ποΈ The Foundation Matters More Than the Surface.
One of the questions we're asked most often is:
"What should I build my court on?"
The answer depends on your project, budget, and the sports you plan to play.
At Flex Court Canada, we recommend 4 approved sub-base options:
β
Concrete (our recommended choice)
β
Asphalt
β
Stone Dust + Geotextile (great for basketball, volleyball and many multisport courts)
β
Existing Pavers
Every base has one thing in common:
β Must be flat with sloap for water
β Must be properly compacted
β Must drain well
β Must be structurally stable
β οΈ Planning a Pickleball Court?
For the best ball bounce and long-term performance, we recommend installing pickleball courts on concrete or asphalt.
Compacted stone dust is not recommended for pickleball.
Building on Stone Dust?
Our graphic also shows the proper construction method:
β Existing soil
β Geotextile separator
β 4β6" compacted ΒΎ" crushed stone
β 2β3" compacted stone dust
β Geotextile (top layer)
β Flex Court modular sport tiles
Building it correctly from the start means years of worry-free performance.
