🚨‼️Midtown Update‼️🚨

Oakville Town Council was recently forced to go in-camera for a vote speculated to be approval of the Midtown TOC.

Oakville Liberals remain opposed to this development without the necessary infrastructure, such as schools, hospitals, and roads. This blatant lack of transparency continues to show a disregard for the needs of our community.

Representatives must continue to be accountable to voters, and Oakville continues to be opposed to this unsustainable mega-development.

🏘️ Doug Ford and Stephen Crawford are considering issuing Minister’s Zoning Orders (MZOs) for lands in Midtown Oakville. These MZOs would permanently override local planning rules and lock in extreme density without the proper infrastructure; decisions that would shape Oakville for decades.

Our MPP, Stephen Crawford, has said publicly that he is against aspects of the proposed Midtown Oakville MZOs. 🤨

But MPP Crawford voted three times in favour of the Transit-Oriented Communities (TOC) legislation at Queen's Park. 🧐 That legislation created the framework allowing the Province to bypass municipal planning and impose zoning by provincial order.

🚫 You cannot vote for the tool and then claim no responsibility for how it is used. 🚫

If MPP Crawford truly opposes the Midtown Oakville MZOs, the path forward is simple and reasonable:

📌 Issue a clear, public statement opposing them.
📌 Formally request that the Premier withdraw them.
📌 Commit publicly to opposing their issuance if they proceed.
