Hundreds of residents turned out to mark the grand opening of the Sixteen Mile Sports Complex expansion.

This project was nearly two decades in the making. The 65,000-square-foot addition features a double gymnasium, a library, a fitness center, and community spaces. Outside, it includes soccer pitches, a cricket pitch, a play area, an all-wheel park, and a dog park. This facility is also carbon neutral with solar panels and energy recovery systems.

I started this journey years ago as a parent looking for facilities for my family. Now, we build what our community needs. This investment serves our residents today and forms the foundation for our future.

Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate this milestone.

Today, both Councillor Sean O'Meara and I raised the flag at Town Hall.

This ceremony marks the start of Black Music Month in Oakville. We recognize the Black artists, musicians, DJs, and promoters who enrich our culture. Black music shapes the sound and diversity of our community. This initiative began in 2021 with BLing Events International Entertainment. I thank our residents and creators for their contributions to our cultural landscape.

We celebrate this heritage throughout June.

I had a wonderful start to my morning spending time with the incredible members of the Bronte Legion Branch 486. 🇨🇦✨

This visit hits close to home for me. My dad was prior service, and growing up in a military family gave me a lifelong connection to our veterans. It gave me a deep, personal appreciation for the immense sacrifices they have made—and continue to make—for Canada.

Our local Legions are the heart of that legacy, and I want to extend a personal thank you to John E. Young (who serves as Poppy Chair, Sergeant-at-Arms, and Parade Commander) for his steadfast leadership and warm welcome today.
Thank you to everyone at Branch 486 for your hospitality, your stories, and your continued service to Oakville.

It’s official—the doors are open! 🥳✨

What an incredible morning celebrating the official grand opening of the Sixteen Mile Sports Complex expansion and our brand-new Oakville Public Library branch. Seeing so many smiling faces exploring the new 65,000 square-foot community centre, shooting hoops in the gym, and checking out books in the new 18,000+ square-foot library space is exactly what "Livable Oakville" is all about.

We build these vibrant spaces so our neighbourhoods have a place to connect, stay active, and grow together. A huge thank you to our town staff, community partners, and every resident who joined members of Council today to mark this milestone.

If you couldn't make it out this morning, the celebration runs until 4 p.m. today—come try the scavenger hunt, check out the bike pump track, or tour the new fitness center! 🏋️‍♂️📚

Four municipalities form Halton Region: Oakville, Burlington, Milton, and Halton Hills.

Together, we maintain the lowest Crime Severity Index among peer police services across Canada. In Oakville, total crime dropped 4.0% in 2025. Property crime fell 5.2%, and reportable vehicle collisions decreased 35.6%. This regional partnership delivers safety to our neighborhoods.

This afternoon, I had the wonderful opportunity to join the Dar Foundation at Bronte Creek Provincial Park for their annual Eid Al-Adha Community Festival.

Events like this highlight the vibrant, inclusive, and interconnected community that makes Oakville such an exceptional place to live. Bringing together thousands of residents from across the Halton region, today’s festival was a beautiful reminder of the values of charity, family, and community connection that define Eid Al-Adha.

Thank you to President Ehab Soliman and the dedicated volunteers at the Dar Foundation for their hospitality and leadership in organizing such a massive, successful gathering. Our council remains committed to supporting spaces and events where all residents feel welcome, celebrated, and connected.
