June is Indigenous History Month — a time to recognize, reflect, and learn from the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples.

In partnership with Grandmothers Voice, Halton Healthcare has installed plaques at our sites as a visible commitment to honour the land we are on and the communities who have cared for it since time immemorial.

These installations are one step in our ongoing journey of learning, respect and reconciliation.

We are grateful for the opportunity to reflect, listen and continue building meaningful relationships with Indigenous communities.

Today, we proudly raise the Pride flag in celebration of Pride Month and in support of 2SLGBTQ+ communities across our region.

At Halton Healthcare, we are committed to creating safe, inclusive, and affirming spaces for everyone — patients, families, and staff. Raising the Pride flag is a symbol of that commitment and a reminder that everyone deserves to feel seen, respected, and supported in their care.

Together, we continue to learn, grow, and stand in allyship today and every day.

Advanced surgical care didn’t take Spencer far from home.
It took him just five minutes down the road to Milton District Hospital.

After being diagnosed with prostate cancer, Spencer underwent minimally invasive surgery using the da Vinci Surgical System- returning home the next day and getting back to his normal activities within weeks.

This is one example of how advanced surgical technology is helping bring care closer to home across Halton Healthcare.

Our Emergency Departments are very busy. Patients are prioritized based on the urgency of their condition. Those with less urgent needs can expect longer wait times.

Estimated wait times reflect how long it may take to see a provider. Your full length of stay depends on the care you need and any tests you require.

We appreciate your patience as our teams work hard to care for everyone. For current wait times and non-hospital care options, visit the link in our bio.

Meet Trish, Patient Care Manager at Halton Healthcare đź’™

Trish provides leadership across Birthing Services and Clinics at Milton District Hospital, along with Complex Transitional Care and 2N Regional. She also serves as Interim Patient Care Manager for Complex Transitional Care at MDH.

Trish began her nursing career as a Clinical Resource Nurse in the Birthing Suite at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, where she worked for more than 20 years starting in 2001.

What she loves most about nursing is the connection with patients and families. Being part of someone’s journey and recognizing that what may be an ordinary day for us can be a deeply meaningful moment for them.

Her advice to her younger self: Lead with curiosity, not answers. Listen first - people will tell you what they need. And know you don’t need permission to lead with compassion.

Meet Torri, Registered Practical Nurse in Medicine Program at Halton Healthcare. 💙

Torri provides direct patient care on a busy medical-surgical unit, working as part of a fast-paced team where no two days are ever the same.

What she loves most about nursing is the mix of hands-on patient care, teamwork, and always finding ways to make the experience better for patients. She values being able to support people in vulnerable moments—helping them feel heard, supported, and cared for.

For Torri, nursing is also about growth. She describes herself as always learning and growing in her practice, one shift at a time.

Her advice to her younger self: Trust yourself more, stop overthinking, and remember that confidence comes with experience.

This Nursing Week, we recognize nurses like Torri who bring dedication, curiosity, and compassion to patient care every day. 🌟

Meet Amanda, Mental Health and Addictions Nurse Practitioner at Halton Healthcare 💙

Amanda supports patients through crisis assessments in the Emergency Department, provides addiction care for both admitted and ED patients, and leads outpatient mental health follow-up and addiction clinics at Georgetown Hospital.

What she loves most about her role? Advocating for vulnerable patients and creating a space where people feel safe, accepted and heard. For Amanda, nursing is about more than medicine—it’s about caring for the whole person.

Her advice to her younger self: Be patient. You’ll find your niche that brings together both your heart and your head.

This Nursing Week, we’re proud to recognize nurses like Amanda who show up with compassion, expertise and dedication—every single day. 🌟

Meet Michelle, Clinical Resource Nurse in Outpatient Oncology at Halton Healthcare 💙

Michelle supports patients through their cancer journey in the outpatient oncology clinic, helping guide care while offering expertise every step of the way.  What she loves most about nursing is the privilege of walking alongside patients—sharing in both their strength and vulnerability, and always seeing the person beyond their diagnosis.

Her advice to her younger self: There is a strength within you that will never fail—trust in it. It will carry you through.

This Nursing Week, we recognize nurses like Michelle who bring connection, humanity, and support to every patient experience. 🌟
