20 YEARS. COUNTLESS MEMORIES. ONE INCREDIBLE COMMUNITY.

For 20 years, the Soul Food Okotoks Food Bank Christmas Concert has been bringing people together through the joy of music and the spirit of giving. 🎶

What makes Soul Food so special isn't just the music.

It's the performers who share their talents.

It's the volunteers who give their time.

It's the businesses that step forward to support our community.

And it's YOU — the people who have made this Christmas tradition possible for two decades.
As we prepare for the 20th Anniversary Concert on December 8 & 9, we're taking a walk down memory lane to celebrate the people, performances, and special moments that have shaped Soul Food.

Were you part of one of our past concerts?

We'd love to hear your favourite Soul Food memory in the comments!

Here's to 20 years of making music and making a difference.

Volunteer Spotlight: Greig!

This month, we’re excited to shine the spotlight on Greig, who has been volunteering with the Food Bank for 10 years!

Greig began his volunteer journey in Olds in 2016, where he volunteered for six years before moving to Okotoks and continuing to give back to his community.

When asked why he volunteers, Greig shared that he initially got involved because he knew people within the organization and enjoyed working alongside familiar faces to help those who needed a leg up.

One of his most memorable volunteer experiences happened during COVID-19, when he was mistaken for someone stockpiling food while picking up supplies for the Food Bank! Thankfully, he was able to clear up the misunderstanding.

Why does Greig encourage others to volunteer?

"It gives volunteers the opportunity to work with like-minded individuals to help people who need help due to economic pressures."

Thank you, Greig, for your years of dedication, generosity, and commitment to helping others. We are incredibly grateful to have you as part of our volunteer team!

Growing food and giving back to our community!

A huge thank you to the Panther Learning Garden at Percy Pegler School, proudly sponsored by the Okotoks Optimist Club, for their incredible generosity!

Despite a later start to the growing season, the garden donated nearly 200 pounds of fresh produce to the Okotoks Food Bank throughout the summer and at harvest time.

Thank you to everyone involved! We look forward to seeing what next year’s growing season brings!
