The Innovation Employment Grant (IEG) is designed to support small and medium-sized enterprises that are pushing boundaries through innovation. This grant provides a refundable tax credit for R&D expenditures, helping you offset the costs of developing new products, processes, or technologies.

Whether you're in software development, advanced manufacturing, or clean tech, this grant rewards your investment in the future of your industry.

💰 Funding Benefits:
8% Base Payment: Earn a credit on your R&D spending up to your company's average spending level from the previous two years.

20% Enhanced Payment: Receive a higher credit for R&D spending that exceeds your previous two-year average.

Up to $4 Million: Eligible R&D spending of up to $4 million annually is covered by the grant.

✅ Who is Eligible?
Corporations in Alberta: Must be incorporated and conducting R&D activities within the province.

SMEs Targeted: The grant is specifically designed for small and medium-sized firms. It phases out for companies with taxable capital between $10 million and $50 million.

SR&ED Alignment: Eligible expenditures must match those that qualify for the federal Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) program.

📝 How to Apply:
There is no separate application form! The IEG is delivered through the corporate tax system. Simply complete Schedule 29 of your Alberta Corporate Income Tax Return (AT1) for the applicable taxation year.
