On Firefighters’ National Memorial Day, we honour those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others.

Today, on September 11, we pause to remember the lives lost in the terrorist attacks of 2001.

We honour the 343 firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice at the World Trade Center, along with the other first responders and civilians whose lives were taken that day. We also recognize those who continue to live with the lasting physical and emotional impacts of their service.

Their courage, selflessness and commitment to helping others will never be forgotten.
