🚸📚 Back to School Safety Reminder 📚🚸

Kids are heading back to school and they’re excited (and yes, so are the parents 😉). It’s been a while since children have been in a school routine, so let’s all take extra caution on the roads:

✅ Slow down in school/playground zones
✅ Be ready for kids who may not be paying attention when crossing
✅ Parents—remind your kids where and when it’s safe to cross

Wishing everyone a safe and successful first day back to school—whether you’re learning at home or in the classroom! 🍎✏️

A Growing Tax Base Grows our Potential

Attracting and managing growth takes planning and consistency. The Corporate Plan, Housing Strategy, Economic Development Strategy, and emerging Asset Management Program provides the roadmap for growth and proactive decision-making.

With record levels of housing construction, ongoing commercial investment, and a growing interest in Olds as a place to live, work, and invest, we’re optimistic about our future. While growth alone will not solve every challenge, it remains one of the most effective ways to improve financial sustainability.

The 2026 Financial Report provides the financial context behind the plans shaping Olds' future.

57 Avenue Reconstruction Update

The 57 Avenue project continues to move toward the completion of the current phase, with several important pieces of work scheduled for Monday, August 31.

Paving is scheduled for:
◾The south side of 57 Avenue
◾The North Service Road bulb

Following the paving on 57 Avenue, temporary pavement markings will be installed, while permanent traffic signage is also scheduled to be installed Monday, August 31.

Motorists should expect changing traffic patterns and possible delays while this work is underway. Please slow down, follow all posted signage and pavement markings, and use caution around construction crews and equipment.

We appreciate the continued patience and cooperation of residents, businesses and motorists as the project progresses.

**UPDATE: Work will begin at the North Service Road bulb before moving to 57 Avenue, with the work planned to minimize impacts during school pickup and drop-off times. Crosswalks are expected to remain functional while the work is underway**

Meet Mabel Pine!

Back in April, Harper received a young pine tree from École Olds Elementary School. Since then, she has carefully nurtured and cared for the tree, helping it grow strong and healthy.

When it was ready for a permanent home, Harper's family reached out to the Town of Olds, and together we found the perfect spot in Hartman Green. Harper even gave the tree a name: Mabel Pine.

We're proud to help plant Mabel Pine and watch her grow alongside our community for years to come. Thank you, Harper, for your dedication and care!

Thank You, Olds College Broncos!

A big thank you to the 30 student-athletes from Olds College who volunteered their time with the Parks and Recreation Department as part of a Team Up event!

Over a couple of hours, the Broncos helped tackle a variety of projects throughout the community. Their efforts included assisting at the Olds Sportsplex and helping clean and w**d parks around town, including Centennial Park, Rotary Park, and other green spaces.

Their hard work, positive attitude, and commitment to giving back helped keep our parks and facilities looking their best for residents and visitors to enjoy.

We greatly appreciate their support and the impact they made in just a few short hours. Thank you, Broncos, for being outstanding community partners!
