More great education when dealing with cognition of others. True stuff..

Examining how certain behaviours can be caused by cognitive deficits can show how misunderstood individuals with FASD can be. We often say that behaviours are a symptom of the poor fit between individuals and their environment. By learning about the effects of cognitive disabilities we can see how a lot of behaviours are misinterpreted as being willful or disobedient when they are actually a direct result of FASD.

Notice of Dry Condition

Lac Ste. Anne County Fire Services is continually assessing conditions, and is closely monitoring the potential for a Fire Advisory or Fire Ban in the coming weeks. Spring-like conditions are now in place, with green-up slowing starting in most areas as normal drying cycles with added windy conditions are occurring.


What does that mean for landowners? Effective immediately, County Fire Guardians will still be able to issue Fire Permits, however the current and expected conditions dictate an adjustment in permitting processes:

- Fire Permits will be issued for short-term burning that can occur in several hours, or a single day, or within three (3) days or less,

- All large burning requests, such as brush piles or slash piles, will not be permitted until after green-up occurs,

- Weather conditions will play a large part in permitting conditions with winds of NO MORE than 15kmh as the top priority, followed by the humidex readings, and

- Permitted burning will be recommended in the early morning, or later evening, hours when weather conditions are more conducive for safe burning.

Current conditions also affect the use of backyard Fire Pits and rural Burn Barrels (allowed only outside of Hamlets and named subdivisions). The dry conditions can factor into a running or out-of- control fire while using a Fire Pit or Burn Barrel. Please clear away all standing dead grasses and other vegetation around a Fire Pit and Burn Barrel, and make sure that no burning is done within three (3) metres of any structure, or under overhead powerlines or on top of underground utilities.

Please contact your local area County Fire Guardian to discuss burning plans or to request a Fire Permit. And remember - you must obtain a Fire Permit for any open burning in Lac Ste. Anne County.
