Exciting news Orangeville! The connection of Hansen Boulevard is complete and both College Ave. and Hansen are now open!

We know it’s been a long wait and appreciate your patience. Council was on site to share the great news and celebrate the completion.

Here’s what you need to know:

🚗 speed limit is 50 km/h on Hansen and 40 km/h on College
🚗 transit service will be expanded to the area beginning this fall
🚗 construction on the next phase of development is still ongoing; watch for equipment and vehicles

Please remember to follow road safety and speed limits—together we can work to keep our communities safe and on the move!

We’re working to keep our community up to date on the latest roadwork and major construction around Orangeville this summer. Here’s the work underway around Orangeville August 10 – 14!

· Broadway (Centre to John) – sidewalks and curb work
· Centre St. (Dawson to Hillside) – local traffic only – sidewalk removal/replacement and road resurfacing
· Crimson Cres. (Fourth to Pheasant) – road resurfacing/sidewalks
· Dawson Rd. (Madison to Hillside) – local traffic only – sidewalk removal/replacement and road resurfacing
· Doctors Ln. (Second to Third) – local traffic only – sidewalk removal/replacement and road resurfacing
· Dufferin St. (Erindale to Ontario) – local traffic – road reconstruction
· Green St. (Townline to Chisolm) – local traffic only – road reconstruction
· Hansen Blvd. (Credit Creek intersection) – through traffic permitted – new PXO installation

Last week, the Block Box was vandalized at one of our parks, with repair estimates of approximately $3,000.

Our Orangeville Recreation summer staff are passionate about keeping our community active and involved through the Block Box each year.

Respect goes a long way, and that includes the Block Box, our staff and everyone who uses it.

The Block Box program provides activities for youth and adults, travelling to different parks each week throughout the summer. It’s invaluable, with free activities that benefit everyone in our community, remaining mobile to make sure everyone has access.

Our staff will continue to bring the Block Box to our community to finish out the season.

Please remember to treat our staff and services with kindness and care. A little bit of respect can go a long way.

When it comes to protecting our drinking water, there’s somewhere we can look to for guidance: nature! Ecosystems keep their environment thriving by creating habitats and keeping water clean.

The plants that grow naturally adapt to thrive in local weather and soil conditions. They’re perfectly prepared to combat Ontario’s summers, where we’re prone to long hot, dry stretches that can leave lawns and gardens thirsty.

Native species like black-eyed Susans, goldenrods, violets, meadow-rue and more require less water than non-native and ornamental plants. This means they help prevent heavy draws on our drinking water systems. Plus, they help our pollinators thrive!

Protect the source and conserve water; nature’s already given us some of the right tools.

Happy Civic Day!

Reminder that many of our offices and facilities will be observing modified hours for Civic Day weekend.

The Civic holiday long weekend is approaching, and Town facilities will observe modified hours.

Here’s what’s open and closed on Monday, August 3.
🔹Town Hall and offices – closed
🔹Alder Recreation Centre – closed
🔹Tony Rose Memorial Sports Centre – closed
🔹Orangeville Public Library (both branches) – closed
🔹Orangeville Transit – regular service (6:30 a.m. to 8:45 p.m.)

Standpipes (often called water towers), reservoirs and storage tanks play a critical role in supporting our drinking water system.

Our west sector reservoir—known as the water tower off B-line—is undergoing a rehabilitation project to help us continue meeting the needs of our residents.

This weekend (Aug. 1), we’re beginning the sandblasting work.

What is sandblasting? It’s the removal of the interior coating. This work needs to be completed during warm, dry weather.

Here’s what you can expect in the nearby area:
➡️ sandblasting will take approximately two weeks
➡️ this is the loudest part of the project, so you may notice higher noise levels nearby
➡️ drinking water services in the area will not be affected
We’re working with our private sector contractor to reduce noise as much as possible by:
➡️ installing noise-reduction structures around the work area
➡️ creating a noise control plan
➡️ the contractor will follow our noise bylaw: (Mon. – Fri., 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Sat. and Sun., 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; statutory holidays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
