Well, looks like it’s official!
I’m running for Caledon Town Council in Ward 1 in this year’s municipal election!
I’ve thought about this for a long time, and I’ve decided that it’s definitely time to give it a shot!
I’m running because I honestly believe that Ward 1 needs someone who is going to both listen to the people who live here and speak up tremendously for them at Council!
There are a lot of things going on in Ward 1 right now. We have the ongoing issues with gravel pits and fill sites, and I don’t want another situation like Swan Lake to happen here — not that that is even over.
We have traffic and road safety concerns ongoing like crazy, and that’s not even to mention Highway 10! We have issues in our villages and hamlets that always get overlooked. And we have decisions being made at the Town, Region and Province that have a very real, everyday impact on the people who live here.
And that’s not even to mention how Town Council can’t seem to work together, whether it’s the little things or the things that really matter.
I don’t pretend to have all the answers. But I do believe that if we’re going to elect someone to represent Ward 1, that person needs to constantly listen, ask questions, push back when necessary, and be certain our concerns are heard, no matter what it takes!
That’s what I will do!
My campaign is called The Local Approach because I believe local government should start with the people who actually live here.
Over the next few weeks, I’ll be talking more about what I believe, the issues I want to work on, and what I think we can do better.
For now, I just wanted to say:
I’m running!
And I’d really appreciate your support.
