Please see the below announcement from New Brunswick Department of Transportation.

July 31, 2026
SUNBURY-YORK SOUTH (GNB) – Preparations have begun for the replacement of the Beaver Dam Bridge on Route 101 in Sunbury-York South.
“This replacement project is another step in making sure New Brunswick’s transportation network is well-maintained,” said Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Chuck Chiasson. “Replacing it is important for the area, and many people travel through Beaver Dam on Route 101 when travelling to Fredericton and Saint John.”
Originally built in 1937, the current bridge has been reduced to a single lane of traffic since 2021 and is deemed to be reaching the end of its useful life.
The new structure will restore the original two lanes of traffic and maintain this link in the province’s transportation network. The project will cost about $4 million.
Construction of a detour has started and will continue through the summer. Traffic is expected to be rerouted over a temporary bridge starting in September, with demolition of the existing structure taking place shortly thereafter.
Work on the new permanent bridge will begin next May, with completion expected by October 2027.
